building 4x4 ten...Need help with Fan set up

FILTER>FAN>HOOD>DUCT OUTSIDE TENT.

Don't pull hot air through your fan. It kills it quick.
This ^

The only time that's not the case is if non insulated ducting is used and the exhaust/hot side of the ducting run is long.

If you're running like 10+ feet of non insulated aluminium ducting by the time the hot air reaches the end of the ducting run, it's no longer hot. Non insulated aluminium ducting radiates the heat from the duct like a heatsink out into the room.

So if it's a long ass ducting run tossing a fan at the end of the line won't cook the fan as badly, but it's still not ideal imo.

I pulled hot air directly from two 400 watt hps thru a fan for over seven years.. no problems!
Pushing was not as effective.. I tried both ways!

The most important questions are these

1 do you have space in your tent for the filter?
2 are you sure your hood is airtight? Otherwise you can put 56 filters before it and blow sweet skunk marijuana smells all over your neighborhood

And however it may be true that pulling is more efficient, efficiency is not the goal. We're not setting up hvac in a residential setting. We care about air exchange rate and heat removal and passive intake

So it depends alot on what this guy has for equipment. And how much space he has in the tent.

If it's going to cause you space issues and your cussing the fucking thing for 4 months vs not having it in the way and air exchange is good and no smells then who gives a fuck if it's not as efficient?
