Title was suppost to read: "Buds very dry while **Curing** Is this a problem? sorry about that.

So I hung my plants for about 6 or 7 days and the stems snapped 3/4 the way through. The buds have been in jars for 4 days and for the first day and a half I burped them for an hour every twelve hours. I kept thinking they'd draw moisture from the inside of the stems to the outside of the buds. So for the last 2 and 1/2 days I've barely opened the jars. The only reason i've opened them is to see if they've gotten any less crispy. What should I do? I'm debating on 2 different things. I already put it all into much smaller jars filled 80% to the top.

1. Put a piece of damp papertowl on the lid of the jars and leave for 24 hours and then start the burping process again.

2. Don't open jars for like 48 hours and see how they're doing.

PS- How many days into curing before you guys really start to get that stank back?

Well I was just cleaning up the room where I had them hanging and found some little buds that had fallen off. Every bud I found smelled DANK!! I'm doing an experiment with 2 of my 12 jars for right now. One jar I weighed the bud in it, 34.1 grams, and spread it all out on a white piece of computer paper. The other jar, 37.3 grams, I moved the buds around, inside the jar, and took the lid off. I'm going to leave it like this for 5 days and do a smell test. 9, of the other 10 jars, i'm going to burp for 1 hour every 12 hours. The last jar i'm going to burp for 1 hour every 48 hours. After the 5 days which ever bud smells the best I will do that with the other jars. I'll keep you updated with the results.

If the bud that smells the best is crispy I'll throw it in a jar and put a wet papertowl on the lid and get some moisture back in it, but atleast I'll have the dank smell i'm after!!

I just went thru the exact same thing several weeks ago.. I had my buds hanging in my flower room where I have to keep a de-humidifier going due to my hydro SOG. Well my buds went into extra crispy mode in about 6 days. I cut them off the stems and put into 2 qt mason jars.I weighed out 15.25 zips I added a thin slice of apple to each jar and sealed it up and rotated them and burped them like it was curing. Within a cpl days they were the perfect texture and humidity content to finish slow curing after I took out the apple slices.... and the dank stank came back. Reweighed after the apple slices were removed and it weighed out to 16.75 zips. It will probably finish curing at 16 zips but won't crumble in my hands.

Don't burp the jars so much. Every hour is a lot in my book. If they are real crispy just let them finish curing and cut the bud down a little bit till it isn't so crisp. Like the guy said I've seen people put apples and orange peel in with there smoke to moisten it back up but watch for mold. Burp the jars twice a day. They should be dry enough to smoke after six days so you really don't have to burp the jars that often.

Sorry If I didn't word it right earlier.
I burp the jars two times a day (12 hour intervals). Each time I burp them it is for one hour.
