Bud checkup....

Check out my latest three pictures ive put up, the ones labeled "four and ahalf weeks flowering." The top cola shots are of my two plants...

This is Pot OF Gold strain, with an estimated flowering time of 8-10 weeks...

My question is, does it look like they are on track? The white hair development seemed to slow down a bit over the past few days and im paranoid...

ALso, when do they start looking like buds rather then just white hairs?

Think of the flowering period as 3 stages.

The 1st part is the "stretch," a period of rapid growth, where the plant will at least double in size quickly. This is usually a little more than one-third of the total time. (Thus the "40/60 Theory" was born, but that's another post. )

The 2nd part is bud formation. This is when you start to see white hairs popping out all over. The buds will continue to form, growing outwards to make colas.

The 3rd part is bud ripening. This is when there are several weeks of apparently nothing happening, except for the plant foliage looking worse by the day. But the magic is happening to the resins as they ripen. This is also the part that most growers don't have the patience for, and end up harvesting too early.

If you are on Day 32, and you have a 10 week maturer, you are just starting the 2nd part. Now would be a good time to start giving them a PK Booster nutrient.

They are looking great! They look well-fed, and well-watered, but not too much of either. I can see a wee bit of leaf-tip curl-down, and browning. That's the first sign of over-ferting. Some growers say that's the sign that the plant has all she wants.

Keep her healthy, and you'll have some very nice colas. I would say she's more sativa, so at least 10 weeks total to maturity.
