figuring out the new roll it up tonight. i'll ramble on a while if anybody is interested.

i transplanted them all into the 3 gallon pots today. all had good roots on them. all the narkush especially had a nice think web. i went to the local greenhouse/nursery this morning to get some nice fresh OF potting soil and they had like tripled the size of their hydro department. they now carry Roots soil (very exciting) so i got a bag of that and bag of the FFOF. got home and realized i didn't have enough of either one so i mixed them together with an extra scoop of perlite and a scoop of worm castings and called it good. they look and feel and smell pretty similar. the Roots soil seems a bit redder and maybe that's the coco fiber. seems like it has more pumice too? heck if i know!

i'll probably switch to the 400watt MH soon and keep the lights at 20/4.

if i counted right the oldest ones are about 5 weeks old (from when they popped in the soil.) i'm in no hurry to flower them. maybe 3 weeks from now.

depending on how many males i pull i'm not sure if i should just keep the remaining in these 3 gallon pots or go to 5 gallon. i also have 7 gallon. i could probably do four 7 gallon containers with my light and space but i'm pretty sure i'm going to have more than 4 plants. i'm kind of confused about what the options are with a 400 watt light and a 4 x 4 footprint in a 6' tall tent with a pretty large deep reflector. i'm not going for yield since since it's all for me and the few friends i gift it to. just not sure what to do this time.

i'm also curious about what to do with the one narkush, (front right corner - the pic isn't very good,) that's really short and bushy. it looks great but it's inter-nodal spaces are very short and the top tier of leaves are so thick everything under is pretty much in the dark and not getting any light. i suppose i'll just leave it be and see what happens.

i'm starting to smell some slight skunk too......

pic number 4 is a narkush. it's deformed. check out the big leaf on top left. this plant came up out of the dirt all twisted and odd looking but it's stayed fairly healthy looking so i'm letting it grow for now. it kinda grows from one side and doesn't send out limbs on the other side. it's sent out a side branch that seems to be it's own plant and has roots on it.

ok....wow, i typed alot....sorry for the jabbering.

hi, switched to the 400 watt MH last night. pic 1 and 3 are narkush. pic 5 is a bubbliscious. so far so good!:hump:

the pots seemed a bit light tonight so i watered a little bit - not enough to run out the holes. just plain filtered water with a drop of superthrive.

my temps went from 70 degrees with the 250w to 78 degrees with the 400w. they dont seem to mind. i've increased my output fan speed and will have to get that ballast out of the tent. i closed the vents in the basement to hopefully lower the ambient temp a few degrees as well.

even tho i'm a bit lost, i'm liking the new rollitup because i can upload several pics at once.

cheers!

I would keep them in the containers that they are in now. If you can keep your girls in a smaller footprint they would make better use of the available lumens. A 400 one foot above the canopy cast more lumens than a 1000 at two feet. You don't have to worry about them getting rootbound either for that veg time

rock on cave. as always - thanks for the advice.

hi, so i'm around 7 weeks from the first ones popping out the soil. i'm not sure what that's considered as far as veg time because some folks count seedling time and some don't.

my biggest plant is exactly 12" tall now. i have them in the 3 gallon (12 liter) containers. assuming i'll keep them in those pots the entire grow any advice about when to flower them? i'm not in a rush and i could certainly wait another 4 weeks before the switch but i wonder if the 3 gallon containers can handle that. should i split the difference and flower in 2 weeks? how about pre-flowers.....should i wait for those and then flip?

thanks!

BUMP!

i see pre-flowers tonight on the 2 tallest ones. i think i'll give them a week, maybe two, and then do the flip.

cheers!

Hey Dance, just wondering.....do you have an exaust running 24/7 ? with an intake fan as well? or do you have a thermostat controlling everything????

hello! yes, i keep my exhaust fan running 24/7 AND i keep my oscillating fan going 24/7. i have a temp overload thermostat on the reflector set at 95 degrees just in case the exhaust fan fails - that way i wont burn down the house. i think keeping the air flowing is good for the plants and it helps keep the temps and humidity less variable.

i should be happy....i've got lots of girl preflowers. i only have one left that i haven't sexed yet. i'm assuming the 3 feminized k-trains will all be females but they have not preflowered yet. my biggest concern right now is space - horizontal not vertical. hadn't expected to have this many females. i'll deal with it! :-P

it's hard to tell from the pix but the narkush are in front. the bubbles are in the next row and the k-trains are in back. the k-trains are tallest and stretchiest and have an interesting looking leaf i haven't really seen before. they are about 18" tall now. the bubbles are more sativa looking and the narkush are totally broad leafed indica looking.

the smell is very minimal. i don't have a carbon filter and just barely smell anything at all.

i see a couple of fungas gnats (just smashed one a few minutes ago) and a small white fly type thing that's microscopic compared to a fungas gnat. but really only a few, although i'll keep my eye on things and put up a couple of sticky traps.

this 50/50 blend of roots and FFOF is different. i think it dries out faster and crusts easier than straight FFOF. i'm not sure if that's good or bad.

i'm sure i'll go 12/12 any day now when the mood hits me. i was sort of waiting for the k-trains to officially preflower but since they are already 18" tall and in these 3 gallon pots i think i better flip soon.

by the way - digging the new roll it up since i can actually upload a bunch of pics at one time.

:peace:

hello! well i have 9 females in the 3 gallon pots. they definitely get dry and start to droop after 3 days so i'm watering more than i'm used to. other than the drop of superthrive i've only used 1/2 strength nutes 2 times so far.

set the timer for 12/12 tonight. just can't wait any longer... the bubbles and the k-trains are 22" tall. i'll switch to HPS tomorrow.

after my rough start i didn't expect 9 females and such vigorous growth - must be doing something right or just got lucky. i hope the 3 gallon pots will be OK since i have 40 days or so left.

i'm not sure about my 400 watt HID for 9 adult plants. my foot print is 4x4 MAX so i'll have to live with it and move them around every day. i hope it will be enough. i have a back up 400 watt light and ballast i could add if needed but i hate to do it - my electric bill is high enough.

the narkush are super dense and bushy and i'm wondering how far the light is getting through them. the bubbles are great - they spread out real nice and open. the feminized k-trains still have not pre-flowered and continue to stretch.

just did some needed pruning. still noticing a few fungus gnats and a few microscopic sort of flies. i got the magnifier out and don't see any noticeable bug stuff on the undersides of my leaves. i know bugs can get in a number of ways but i've grown several times over several years and never had anything more than a gnat or two. this time i have more bugs.

the only big change i have done this time is using half ROOTS potting soil. i already noticed it clumps and crusts more than FFOF. i don't know if that's where the bugs came from but i don't think i'd use it again.
