bubblicous/narkush/ata-tundra gro

hi - started a new grow a few days ago. it's seedsman narkush, seedsman ata tundra, and nirvana bubblicious. i wanted a mostly indica grow this time and all these seeds were gifted to me by a sadly now deceased med patient.

i put 4 of each in water for 24 hours (they all sank) and then dropped them in gardeners seedling mix in 3" cowpots.

the bubblicious popped up right away - all four of them.

three narkush followed the next day. one didn't pop at all.

four days later and i have one tiny ata tundra that doesn't look good. i did a search for ata tundra and i haven't heard anything good about them in grow journals. however, i had six seeds left so i just tossed them all in water tonight and i'll see if any of them pop.

i'll attach a pic or two. they are under a 150 watt CFL for the time being.

peace!

thanks everybody!

there's the 4 bubblicious (center) and 3 narkush. they looked a little washed out today so the lid is off for good and i have a tiny oscillating on them.

i always have to tinker so i removed the 150w cfl and put in the 250w metal halide. much brighter!

you can see my in line fan speed controller. my fan is squeaking a bit - i don't know how to lubricate it. when i switch to the 400 watter i'll take the fan down and check it out.

i put all 6 of the rest of the ata tundra seeds in the container next to the seedlings. it will be pretty weird if none of them pop.

well it appears that out of 10 ata-tundra seeds only one popped and it died a day or two later. it couldn't seem to pop off the seed shell. the 6 i put in soil the other day don't show any signs of life. sure am glad i didn't pay for them!!! so i'm giving up on the ata-tundra and i'm going to try these greenhouse k-train beans. i haven't grow feminized seeds before. i just put 4 of them in the water. here's how they are described at the attitude:

Sex :
Feminized
Type : Flowering : Photoperiod Genetics : Trainwreck with original Kush Flowering Time : Medium Outdoor Harvest : Unknown Height : Medium THC Level : Medium Characteristics : The flavor is very kushy, sweet and earthy, with moss and musk background
K-Train is a new creation of Green House Seed Company. We decided to cross the original Trainwreck with original Kush, and the result is impressive to say the least. After careful selection, we are introducing the perfect balance between these two famous strains. The K-Train is a very powerful indica strain, easy to grow and with a strong metabolism. With all the plant characteristics of the Kush and the typical oversized calyx and bud structure of the Trainwreck. The structure of the plant is mid-sized and bushy, with thick round leaves and strong stalks. The Green House K-Train has a flowering time of 9 weeks, and it’s cannabis seeds are suitable for indoor and outdoor. It can manage high EC levels. The flavour is very kushy, sweet and earthy, with moss and musk background. The effect is strong on the muscles, quite narcotic as well. It is a long lasting ride, very stoned.
Pack of 5 and 10 Feminized Cannabis Seeds available

Hey there Dance. I wonder what was wrong with the ata tundra seeds? The k train sounds good though. Ya growing is fun ,isn't it :) Especially when it's a hobby. I need to scale back some...mine's getting to be an almost full time job in itself and I'm not going to have the time soon.

There's only one or two other grows that I'm watching here so I'll keep an eye on yours. Good luck bro. Enjoy!

thanks cave! always good to hear from you. i'd love to have more of an on-going process like you do. i'm always watching and learning from your threads. i've never had a mother or cloned anything: all stuff that would so fun to try.

i don't know what happened with the ata-tundra seeds! these were a gift so who knows...maybe they are old or were left out in a hot room or something. they were in the breeder pack and the narkush from the same breeder popped right up so it's a mystery to me.

take care!

i kinda think they like the 250W MH in the cheap cool-tube. they are not stretching at all.

the four bubblicious are in the center and the narkush are on the sides.

i have one k-train, maybe two, popping in the container next to this.

talk to you soon!

hey stvitusdance, i have read your "vortex" journal and have enjoyed it a lot, i'm a new grower, haven't started yet, i'm in the process of getting all the equipment an what not...but i wanted to ask you, how much water do you use per plant? Meaning from seed, to 1-3 gallon to 5 gallon how much water are you using per week or day or every few days? Also do you use nutrients just on one day of the week an water without nutes for the rest of that week or do you water with nutes for the whole week?

hi toronto - hey thanks so much! well....hate to disappoint you... i just kind of wing it and don't measure anything. i eyeball it - especially at first. even when they get big i just wing it depending on how they look. i grow in soil so that gives me more leeway - i think. there's tons of people that have a much more scientific approach to this than i do.

as far as nutes - i use age old fish and kelp shit and fox farm big bloom but not until the plants are 2 or 3 inches tall.

keep in mind i'm a beginner and no expert! there's tons of other growers out there that know so much more than i do!

good luck!

Hey Dance....thanks for the quick reply, but i don't think you understood my whole question, I wasn't really asking what nutes you used, but more like in one week how do you use nutes, is it every watering or just on the first day of the week, and then all the waterings after that in the same week are you using plain water with no nutes in it, till the next week rolls around? I know there may be more expericened growers on here...but i liked your earlier grow journal and figured me being new to all this you'd be able to relate better, if you have links to good "grow journals" please pass them along, but i'm interested in what you did, one because you said your vortex turned out well and thats one strain i want to try later down the road, (i already have a few seeds i bought that ima work on first) so your journal was insightful...anyway any help you can give would be great, thanks.

hi! got it. thanks again for the kind words. my theory is my soil has plenty of nutes to begin with so i use light ferts generally every other watering. i don't worry about PH but i do use RO filtered water. how often i water just depends on the size of the container and how big the plant is. in the 5 gallon buckets it's usually every 3 days or when i can pick up the pot and it feels light. i water just enough so a tiny bit of water comes out the drain holes.

hope that answered your question. if not, let me know!

i'm irritated! so not only did 10 ata tundra seeds bite the dust but the 4 k-trains seem to be toast as well! 2 of the k-train seeds didn't pop at all and the other 2 cracked and sent out a tiny little wimpy root and look dead to me. i don't get it and i've NEVER had this problem before. all i can think of is maybe these seeds are just old and dried out and weren't stored properly.

but i'm not giving up!!!! too stubborn. i'm going to try a couple more k-train beans in fresh seedling soil. maybe i need to soak them longer in the cup this time. :cuss:

at least the bubbliscious and narkush are still looking good.

hi -

if you have 11 plants i would expect you'll at least get 5 females out of the deal.

at about 3 weeks (from seed) i usually add a drop per gallon of superthrive to my filtered water but that's it. i think 3 weeks in is a bit early to start feeding with your good soil. trust me, you dont want to burn your little plants! i know it's hard to do but i would wait a couple of weeks. i don't start using any nutes until i've transplanted them to bigger containers. i'm trying to be as organic as possible so i don't use grow big at all anymore nor tiger bloom. now days i use big bloom and age old organics fish and age old kelp. those are organic (i think!) and i can get them at the greenhouse that's fairly close to me.

there are people that say that if your soil is good and your container is big enough you don't need to use nutes at all. i've burnt plants before so i try to be conservative and when i do feed i do it half strength. i've also heard that too many nutes can screw up the organic balance of your soil. who knows!?

also they tell me some strains can gobble up nutes where others will burn but i don't know much about that.

hope that answered your question! good luck! what strain are you growing?
