I wasn't saying to consider buying anything that says Mars, I was pointing out that the likes of Ali now have "warehouses" in the EU, USA, Australia and so on which means that with certain products the shipping costs are slashed and there's NO IMPORT/CUSTOMS CHARGES as whatever you are buying is deemed to be sent out within, in this case, the EU. Returns are also to that same point of origin, and so on.Im afraid both Mars an Aliexpress are big nonos for me. Even if from within the EU
Problem with buying these chinese crappy lights are many: import/customs: extra charges but also here, if if t thru regular post the company who handles the custom process are the worst cust service i ever found. No possibilities to ever get thru to speak with someone if something goes wrong.
Cuality/warranty/returns/shipping:
Only guarantee about cuality is that it will not be what is advertized. It arrives broken/breaks after 6 months: return to china at own expense and hope u get a new one. Shipping: quite expensive.
Meanwhile we have offerings in EU of genuine lm301 with reasonable prices. German manufacturer. Also, could buy thru my friends business so can deduct VAT.
In a few weeks we will test out china boards versus the g84 / led 342 boards to see for ourselves.
Next buys we do will probably be geared more towards variable spectrums, high Cri, red boost and the like.
May wanna try 4000k + 660 and 730 suplementation and maybe bridgelux vesta strips.
So if telling people to be aware that things have changed considerably when compared to a year, or even 6 months, ago is somehow "wrong" then I would suggest that I ain't the one with the problem.
Oh, and "German manufacturer" means shit, as I know due to having worked with a Belgian firm which makes VERY expensive light fittings where some parts are imported from Poland, others from India and everything else from China. All your "German manufacturer" means is that they still use the same stuff as the cheap chinese stuff, assemble it it in Germany and then slap a higher price tag on because of the "Made in Germany" sticker. That's unless you're stupid enough to think they fabricate every part, including all the electronic stuff, in their own factory, and if that's the case then more fool you.
