I saw them live at the Mississippi River festival back in 71 or so.
One of the best concerts I've ever seen. Of course tripping on some purple micro dot might have enhanced the experience.
Saw them in the early 70's in Akron (Rubber Bowl) and later at the World Series of Rock at the old Cleveland stadium. This was the methaqualone era so I can only guess that I had a good time :hump:

One of the best shows I ever saw was Mountain around 1980. Daytime outdoor free at GWU where I was studying. Leslie West spent most of his time sitting on top of his Amp. He was frighteningly obese and he would lurch up standing and played with all the passion and skill he could muster. Really one of the greats of that era and a huge influence to shredders everywhere.

Saw them at the Mississippi River festival too. Historic venue, that's were Dylan first played when he came out of isolation after his motorcycle accident.
They had these concerts outside, there was a tent area closer to the stage but that cost extra so we would sit on the lawn in what would be the mezzanine on an indoor concert. For this concert the tent area was deserted.
Any way the word went out we're rushing the stage. A huge crowd started gathering around the tent area. The ushers were getting nervous. Suddenly the guy I rode down with shouted " I can't wait any longer" and started running. That set off the stampede. The ushers ran for their lives and we ended up 2nd row center.
What a concert! Leslie West was at the peak of his career. At one point he played his guitar like a violin with a bow.

Jimmy Page did it first....

I stand corrected...
"UK guitarist Eddie Phillips beat him to it by a few years, it seems. According to some sources, Phillips first took "bow to guitar string" in 1963 and as a member of the Mark Four in the mid-Sixties. That band evolved into the Creation—a respected yet still commonly overlooked Swinging Sixties London band."

Pink Floyd, LA Sports arena, 1975? :joint::joint::joint: Guy at the gate was searching me and found the baggie in my sock, he asked what it was, I said it's not a weapon. He didn't take it. :hump:
Man those PF and Zeppelin shows back then were great, weren't they? And cheap compared to ticket pricing now.
Around here they were mostly concerned about glass bottles (liquor). There was a outdoor venue down by Columbus, Ohio (Legend Valley). People were always trying to sneak in a bottle. They had a pen about 8' in diameter and 6' high made out of chain link that they tossed all the contraband in. It was about 3/4 full of bottles, most broken, and a river of booze draining out of it.
