There are more white kids in the US, of course, but in urban/inner cities, mostly the lower income families are Black/Hispanic There are limited opportunities for a child of color to achieve in a city like New York, LA, or Bridgeport, CT, where my wife teaches 2nd grade, in the largest middle school in the state Over 2/3 of her black students are either being raised by their mothers alone, or by their grandparents. Unfortunately, that is the truth. They are fucked from the start, because hardly anyone in their families have even graduated high school, forget college. Am I lying about that, or do you want me to bring up data, proving my point?
