Biden Shanked The Progs

You are letting the 50 Republican senators who are not even voting (and also are forcing it to not be able to even be voted on) for what is in that bill off the hook pretty easily there.
i'm just getting the conversation started again..history will deal with the 50 Republican Senators..as far as I can see there is a big push for Child Tax Credit etc. etc. and I'm all for it..my point is Senior populace is not getting a damn thing when there was up until last week a whole host of items..teeth, glasses, affordable medicine.. I'm with Sanders this shit needs to go into writing so we know exactly what we're talking about.

and the Bills need to be in tandem; one does not go without the other and this is due to Manchin and Synema, NOT a Republican..it's our own fuvkcing team.

We want the Biden Agenda and that includes services for Seniors, in case anyone has forgotten..don't threaten Progs with $0 because we have a way of obliging you.

It really looks more like trolling the Democrats for a couple bills that are not even passed yet.

And if it wasn't for the 50 Republicans not doing anything to try to help our nation out of the economic mess that they left the Democrats while stopping everything the last 50 years or so without fail, this would not even be a issue.

I shout at the news readers everyday, "they are not moderates. They are conservatives."

But this is the most power the progressive wing of the party has ever had. What ever passes will be ground breaking.
I have full confidence in Sanders and Jayapal- you haven't heard any drama except for that the Media is stirring..they've tied themselves up in knots and haven't reported anything new in a week..maybe they should start reporting other news like in the old days..like what's going on in the world or who grew the most whomp ass pumpkin or the Aurora Borealis sightings..

I don't know, last night's Washington Week on PBS had a pretty good summary of the situation.

It would be nice if the Progressives played team. They are being every bit as harmful as Manchin and Sinema. It is too soon. Something about bathwater, and babies.

ummmm:roll:

everyone seems to forget he said this- and it's HIS agenda!
Well then he should use his next three (or seven) years to try to get the rest of it?

The only way to get that is to keep winning and taking back ground from the billionaire Republicans who are brainwashing their 'base' into thinking it is a good idea to tear it all down so that they don't have to pay taxes for another generation.

Yes, some of the items Biden and Democratic Party leadership were pushing hard for were written out of the bill in order to get the rest of it passed.

What seems close to being passed is a $2.75 T infrastructure plan that the country will be benefit greatly from. It is going to help get this country out of the economic recession caused by the epidemic while restoring roads, bridges, and increase funding for initiatives to address climate change.

I haven't heard anybody in Democratic Party leadership say they were abandoning the policies that were struck due to Republican obstruction. But time was up. A deal had to get done or the whole thing would crash. Would you prefer that?

that's why i've not been following the news. Media has forgotten how to find other things to talk about..they were so used to the thrice daily (i'm being generous here) dumpster fires, they're used to being fed the narrative.

You are right in that neither Biden, Sanders* and other Democratic Party leaders are not done and they say so too.

(Sanders is not a Democrat so it's complicated)

What Bernie said about the bill:

Bernie Sanders remained optimistic on Sunday that Democrats will finally come together this week and pass Joe Biden’s domestic spending and infrastructure agenda, overcoming persistent opposition from two centrist senators, Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema.

“We have 50 people that we have to get on board,” Sanders, the chair of the Senate budget committee and a leading Washington progressive, told CNN’s State of the Union.

“This is not easy stuff, but what we are trying to do is put together the most consequential piece of legislation in the modern history of this country, which will transform the role of government in protecting the needs of working families.”

What the Biden administration says:

On NBC’s Meet the Press the energy secretary, Jennifer Granholm, suggested Biden’s approval rating would be boosted when Americans see what is in his spending bill.

“Once people see this,” Granholm said, “they’ll see that they’re going to get a continuation of that child tax credit. They’ll see people being put to work in clean energy all across this country.

“They’re going to see the ability to have senior citizens and people with disabilities being cared for in their homes. They’ll see their costs of living come down as a result of having children. This, to me, this bill and the real impacts that people will see, will have an impact on those ratings.

“And you know what? The president is focused on the middle class and the working class. And once they see that they don’t have to pay one dime for it, if you make less than $400,00 a year, and they get the benefits, we’re starting to rewrite this income inequality that has been plaguing this country and really held us back.”

So, we'll see. 2022 election season has already begun and this is the foundation upon which Democrats will run. Republicans are trying to do to Biden what they did to Obama when the ACA was passed. It's working too. All of the discord voiced from the right and the "Progressives" over the bill has hurt Democrats in recent opinion polls. It's time to get this thing passed and start using the money to build back better.

It's coming, just not this year.
So, we should do nothing because we can't have everything? I don't understand why you want that.

The Democrats should pass what they can now or they will lose the House next year. Pass something now, that most Americans will feel the benefit from, and they could have a larger majority next year. If the Democrats get a larger majority in the Senate, bring more progressive legislation in 2023.

If no deal is reached, the Democrats lose Congress in 2022.

a deal will be reached; there are more than two who get to call it, though.

i asked a question that you didn't answer- choose for her.
Nobody who matters is saying the issues that Manchin and that Arizona Senator bargained out of the spending bills are dead, so, I guess you are right. Time is not up. This spending bill does plenty of good and we can get the programs they fund up and running while working toward getting the other measures written into law.

I still don't understand why you want to kill the whole thing. Just to make a point? I'd rather do what can be done and work on winning more seats in the Senate next year. That's the only way the stuff you and I want will get passed.

I'm for progress. It's ironic that so called Progressives are not.

I really don't think that if the Democrats win or lose in 2022 has anything to do with these bills. Anyone that doesn't understand that being in a dictatorship if the Republicans are able to cheat their way into office with voter suppression techniques and spamming lies regardless of what does or doesn't get done is fooling themselves IMO.

There is no question that the Democrats and Biden are the only ones trying to do the work that we need done, and the Republicans are doing absolutely nothing for anyone but the mega wealthy.

the services that truly relate to the American Family, that you can see and take to the bank the day after it's signed are that of which the Progressives have held tight on..it does me no good to go to the eye doctor for an exam if i can't have the corrective appliance..dental exam and again no corrective; hearing exam but no corrective..Generic RXs that have 10% active ingredient- Brands that are hundreds and thousands of dollars even though they've been around so long that their research has been paid over and over again- why aren't they affordable? they are everywhere else in the world. That's what the Progs are about.
