Biden Decriminalizes Cannabis

I have no skin in this as a Canadian, but I'm unsure if laying it on Biden's feet is being very honest about the process involved.

The House passed legislation similar to the Senate bill back in April, but it did not contain several of the provisions in the Senate bill and included a different tax rate for businesses.

In order for the measure to survive the Senate, it needs the backing of all Democrats and 10 Republicans in the chamber, a lofty task considering not all Senate Democrats have signaled support for marijuana decriminalization.

Additionally, President Joe Biden has publicly opposed legalizing weed at the federal level, raising questions about whether he would sign a marijuana bill even if it made its way through the tumultuous Senate.

How can you not look at all the states that have legalised and realise legalisation is a good idea?

His wife is a doctor, she's seen more legal med addictions than cannabis addictions.
EDIT: Was just told she's not an MD so I was mistaken there. She'll still have seen more legal med addictions though

I am tired of waiting for legalization. I hope to see it before I depart this planet. I remember the first time hearing this and what we were smoking.

I'm curious on some of the specifics of the arrests. The article mentioned that there was an expected rise in arrests due to Covid lockdowns but they didn't expect such a drastic rise in arrests. I didn't see specifics on what type of arrests, which States, etc. Is it possible the article is slightly slanted to reflect poorly on the Administrations efforts to legalize? I just see a lot of holes in the story from my perspective.

Keep in mind I'm not pushing for any sides here. Just questioning the substance of the article.

I still see people getting busted for weed in the crime section of my local paper. We have a few dispensaries here, but I honestly have no idea what the laws are because they keep changing them. I just try to stay out of city limits as much as possible.

LA Weekly is a left-leaning media outlet. They don't have any motivation to politically skew the reality.
