Well I'm not knocking anyone's stuff. There must be a difference in the modes of extraction since his is green but let's look on the bright side and say if this stuff gets someone high and puts out a volume where a good group of people would smoke....I wouldn't complain if I have watched the process from start to finish knowing I got high off it. I would just rather trust myself because you know what you did with it.
Tommy Chong won't smoke something that is given to him, yet he'll pocket more weed in a certain time than what he grows in a season. It's a trust thing. I get it!

I have made some great looking Amber shatter hash and some shitty looking hash (it's hard as a rock and looks like boogers and ear wax) but they were all treated the same way with one difference: one was heated and one was left for open air evap. Can you guess which one?

If you guessed the heated you are correct. Did I do something wrong? Probably not. This stuff will get me high just the same. But even though someone's hash LOOKS bad, you're already judging it instead of smoking it. But I agree that even experienced people need to refine their products while others are just happy smoking it like it is. By the time I had this all aired out, it was a Carmel golden brown, like the finest globs of maple syrup you can find. Looks milky from the heat process but I assure you since I cannot upload a photo from my phone for this site, it's like I said. This doesn't look pretty but the end result does.

Looks pretty terrible honestly..
Sorry guy no offense
Was made with tons of fans and stems and some somewhat decent trim. That was soaked and shook for 1 minute. That one was also heated and agitated/stirred. Just didn't let evap to crystalline before fucking with it. Here is the EtOH from cleaning the walls of column I just blasted. Still a little damp around the edges. 1436494911838.jpg1436495123782.jpg 1436495177191.jpg

sounds like if you had used bud, your results could have been much much more refined. Not saying
You should have but would it have been done. Does this compare to
Kief in consistency or more
Sticky?

Pretty identical to keif. It could have been much better multiple ways. Definitely starting product has a good impact. Though that run was done doing everything wrong and how you read lots of guys tying qwiso. Basically just to show how it turns out even with a good solvent. Everything should have been frozen; material, jars, strainer, EtOH. it should be quickly washed only using gravity. No soaking. No shaking. Also not a bad idea to throw back in the v freezer after the first stain before filtering through a non bleached regular coffee filter. You can make awesome stuff with alcohol. Though the alcohol used and tons of other variables greatly impact these types of extractions. Though All extracts have their niche. The thing with alcohol is time and temperature are your enemy. Any buddy can make decent bubble, dry/co2 sieve, or bho. Though getting blonde shatter honeycomb sap and the like take more refined techniques. Though a novice could still mess up get pretty decent stuff those ways that's still pleasurable to smoke. Alcohol you can fuck up if you aren't very careful and mindful of the process that you may just want to toss in the end. At least that's my take on it. That whole run was to settle an argument of some kid trying to say temp would not matter with the soak so much with higher proof. So did what he said. Lol I can make some fairly decent EtOH but typically I just use it for cleaning to reclaim, like the bubble bag screens when I actually use them and columns, and refining/cleaning bho. No concentrate wizard I understand a good deal of it all but not everything and don't get to run enough to be a top dog. Though an old friend of mine Stash aka giddyup from the post overgrow days when we migrated to 420 genetics and grow kind has made a decent name for himself. crazy watching him do his thing. Know he's living that life and I'm still in the lab serving other types of patients. Would love to refine more and get better and maybe make a name some day. But not a big concern.

Some bho that's still on the heating pad. About ready to scrape up and vacuum purge even though was blasted into EtOH and winterized. Sorry if my pictures suck. All cell phone pics.

I got lucky but i watched enough videos over and over again to just get an idea how to replicate but now I need to do it over and over again with a better outlook. I took the haphazard route only because I was looking for a way to purge without making something super crazy. Winterizing works but I believe it is the heating process that gets the amber shatter result more definitely. I cant push on the batch i didnt heat up without it going a little snap crackle pop, its just so brittle. So
Heating up my tool just barely to at least melt some stuff works. The amber shatter at least has the taffy like consistency if it isnt thin. I got lucky like i said, did on a first try basis getting a decent result. I'll be trying other methods soon enough. Its fun learning chemistry over again

You get better quality doing a short soak than pour through..

Winterizing does not inherently create shatter, it simply removes a portion of heavier waxes. It is also not inherently amber

Definitely one of the best picture by picture tutorials. I was paying close attention when he mentioned the micron syringe filters, @qwizoking would you mind telling me how those might work..which ones to use. I'm tempted to ask the lady who works in the medical area if she might be able to grab a couple from her work....although Amazon does sell them, but large packets.

Basically after youve filtered through coffee filter. Theres still alot left. An even smaller, measured in micron, hence the name, filter thats vacuum assisted for speed will help the end product alot. You want replaceable filters in the funnel not glass built in
