Quick few questions..

1. What stages dyou run in nutrients?

2. Flushing - is that when u let off nutrients towards end of flowering and just water so it cleans out? Is it a worthwhile process?

3. What are the best and necessary nutrients for 1 plant, and what do they do? ( obvi opinions will vary just want general shout)

Hi, I do grow few plants every year for my personal medicine :)

I would recommend you to get Dyna-Gro's GROW 7-9-5 and DG's Pro-Tekt from start to finish. Its complete nutrient for plants that you dont need many bottles. And reasonable price as well. I've always feed in the low dose, thus i dont flush at the pre harvest.

Good luck, buddy.

happy gardening

Thanks mate il look into them :)

Fox far ocean forest/ pro-mix/perlite With advanced nutes ( jungle juice lucas fomula w/ big bud/grandmas molasses It works great for me, always looking for improvements though... Anyone else have any ideas to what I should use or not use? I have some Fox farm tiger bloom, grow big, big bloom, cha ching, beastie bloom and open sesame to but I have read that advanced is a better base than FF.

You definitely want to be flushing at the end of your flowering cycle for at least three days. Many nutrients will leave minerals in your smoke if you don't leech them out first.
And as far as nutrients go, don't let a sales pitch trick you into thinking you have to have a ten bottle nutrient line. Some of them like Advanced or Cyco are great, but there are plenty of two or three part notes that work on about the same level. Botanicare has some great balanced products (I've used pure blend and triflex) that will keep your plants happy.

And sirsmokesalot, advanced is a pretty good base. It's one of those lab grade nutrients, dutch master cyco have great base nutes too

Thanks man so flushing will defobe worthwhile I take it ! Thanks bro :)

1) there are 3 main nutrients that almost all nutes will contain in varying proportions to each other- nitrogen(n), which is involved in new branch and leaf growth, phosphorous(p), which is essential for bud development and photosynthesis, and potassium(k), which helps regulate water transport and a million other things. these are the most essential mobile nutrients to marijuana. you will need to adjust these nutrient levels depending on where your plant is in its life cycle (it needs different food depending on what it needs to produce). a lot of the better nutrient lines will include feeding schedules that tell you precisely what to use and when.......http://foxfarmfertilizer.com/feedingfox.html

2) flushing is one of the most contested aspects of growing as far as i've seen. essentially, unless you really overnute your plant throughout its life or use a fertalizer that facilitates formation of toxic salts there's no reason to flush. i could explain to you in scientific detail why not, but if you really want to know go to the homepage here and search "koijn flushing". that dude knows what he's talking about. otherwise i'd have to go into a long science lesson

3) you didnt ask for it but here's some advice: people will tell you to use organic everything otherwise "you get super bad toxic chemikels in ur roots and stuff." these people dont realize that no matter how that nitrogen you're putting into your soil/hydro setup is broken down into ammonia and is used by the plant to synthesize necessary metabolites no matter what so if someone tries to tell you not to flush or you wont get salt buildup or whatever because you're using organics beware, they're an idiot. the only way to ensure there isn't anything harmful in your grow medium is to use quality products and know what's in the products you use.

this is just a little weed growing experience folded in with quite a few years studying biology. i hope it helps. good growing

Flushing. You think the plant shits the mineral you fed it by watering her for 3 days? Flush is okay but I wouldn't delay cutting one down waiting for a flush. Burns white? My daughter's BF overdosed one of theirs and the leaves literally were fried. Crumbled to the touch and he cut the fan leaves off as they croaked to try to save the buds. When the sugar leaves started wilting he whacked her. He dried her by hanging her 7 days and fired some up. Burned white as any hardwood coal would leave. You KNOW she was loaded with all that carb load and bloom nutes because that is how he killed her. So much for the black ash test which I told them was hooey.

there are no best nutrients, use what you can get locally- talk to the guys at the hydro store. General Hydro ,Advanced Nutrients, and fox farms are good companys, but im using a canadian made brand, very similar to advanced nutrients, and am having great results, its really what works for you. people will tell you only use this or only use that, but i belive alot of nutrients are essentially the same. If you get a 2 or 3 part base with some additives of a reputable brand and a PH meter, you cant really go wrong...

KISS! Next time KISS! Plain old dirt and plain old water for a month from sprouting. A little grow nutes IF the plant shows real symptoms. Then (I use AN Sensi Grow and Bloom both) begin a "feed, water, water" routine with 1/4 strength nutes the first feed, 1/2 strength the next and full strength the next time. Screw any other addidtives except molasses for carb load and sparingly on that as any other additive.

Bloom? Same routine with fractional feedings and increasing the ratios like in grow. The plant MUST be given the opportunity (meaning time) as her chemistry is changing to take up any nutrients at any stage.

Now CAN more additives yield more pot? UNDOUBTEDLY in the hands of experts, which you aren't and I am not. I consider myself, after growing starting 1964, to be an accomplished journeyman grower. As a 30+ year medical professional let me assure you that good medicines kill and/or get a bad rap in the hands of the wrong people including doctors!!!! Your heart is going too fast and the resulting pulse pressure is weak and thready? You feel lightheaded on exertion or arising from seated?

Let's try you on a little digitalis (from the foxglove plant "digitalis purpurea") or aka "Digoxin". Hell it's even organic in source. OK slowed that puppy down to 100 a minute from 120+. Gramps ain't faintin' when he cops a boner (from his nitrate "Viagra" or "Cialis"- another fertilizer source eh) or stands up. But he gets winded walking still (chasing that skirt to the bus stop).

OK check his dig level and increase the dose. OK next visit he's down to 85 a minute and feels pretty good most of the time and even copped a woodie without a Viagra one day. Good let's increase his dose.

ER. "Dad fell down and is acting all weird and mumbling and he's cold". Quick, hook him. Shit his heart rate is fucking 45, his blood 02 sat is 82% and his respiratory effort is weak due to poor circulation to the brain stem (this has obviously happened to many RIU posters) and the lungs and his heart is pumping too slow to oxygenate enough blood in the lungs and oh shit get the damned external pacer on him, intubate him and place him on the ventilator and get his ass to ICU STAT!!!!! Digoxin toxicity.

You can't put your plant on life support. Nutrients, like digoxin or Fox Farms Trio or . . . , only when needed and only enough to solve the MAJOR problem. Then wait to see IF anything else is still tripping your plants. Go by the plant, not by shit you read.

I find your writing on this exceptually trippy. I agree with most of what you wrote here. Interesting writing!

pre harvest flushing is DETRIMENTAL not beneficial....it is just basic botany....there is NO way to rinse anything out of the plant...PERIOD...starving it for nutrients throws everything outta whack ...

Dynagro is inexpensive, high quality and simple
