And "wow" at the pissing match above.
Pretty much the same for me, I was running 1kw at night and during the summer it was 80 at night a month straight, still ran no ac and still never got over 82 in my room. Airflow is key. Running 3 kw now its winter. Could do more, but no reason to..It's not just that. Electricity costs more during the day than at night. It just makes more sense to run at night. And we still endure periods of time where it can be 75+ outside at night for weeks at a time during heat waves.
I can run the 6/750 DE in my big room, because it has tall ceilings. Where the 4x8 sits, the garage has lower ceilings(house is built into a hill), so I couldn't run a Gorilla tent with extensions. I'm eventually gonna frame it in, but for now I'm running a Secret Jardin.
This time of year, i pull 300 watts of COBs out of the center of the tent and switch it out with a 315 I have sitting aside. The tent runs a few degrees warmer like that, which is perfect for winters here.Pretty much the same for me, I was running 1kw at night and during the summer it was 80 at night a month straight, still ran no ac and still never got over 82 in my room. I do have a hard time believing the 15% more yield with less power but perhaps it’s true, i’ll Have to build one and find out lol. The part about the heat is a misnomer in that LED produces less heat. They produce the same amount of heat energy as any light watt for watt, light is heat energy just as mechanical heat. When measured in actual BTU’s watt for watt their all the same. If anyone can prove me wrong please do, never to old to learn .I honestly dont get why King is so pissed. He's changed in the year I've been gone. My biggest issue with his nonsense is the "science" he's "referenced" without actually naming any laws or studies.
As far as heat, yes 1 watt is 3+ BTU, but LED give off more light per watt used, that is to say less energy is made directly into heat. Duh. For real.
LED has it's drawbacks. Coverage footprint, cost, and assembly are among them. I'm seriously considering spending around $1000 ona QB setup so I can run two tents. Why? Because of heat and space, the 2 biggest draws for LED. My ceiling is just over 6.5 feet, and will get smaller depending on how I build my room. (My floor gets water, so I'll likely have to elevate the room)
HPS is great if you have high ceilings and need to cover a large area or have low ambient temps. Why? Bigger footprint, more space for heat to dissipate, etc. HPS costs less upfront, is more readily available, has a great spectrum, and is a proven grow method with a huge community of growers who know how to perfectly dial in a room. THIS IS WHY COMMERCIAL OPS USE IT.
CMH is becoming popular because it's got a great spectrum and is more efficient than HPS with similar operating requirements.
CFL nobody uses these except for newbs and budget dudes, but I shit you not, my brother in law had an 8x8 running CFL and grew some dank ass smoke. He probably didn't yield anything close to what he could have with "proper" lighting, but stuffing enough of these in a space will get you smoke.
Stop bashing each other and actually take the time to have a discussion about the pros and cons. Stop telling people that they suck at growing because they don't like your preferred light.
And for God sake, King, NOT having LED makes you BIASED TOWARD the light you do use.
EDIT: I'm also considering picking up HID equipment for the winter months because here in New England we have the worst of both worlds. Hot as balls with high humidity in the summer, cold as fuck in the winter.
Yes, bud, but they produce more light per watt, so you can run less watts therefore less heat. I do love the look of that spectrum. As soon as i have room i may have to run one of those during the winter. Might even try a mixed run with a cmh and my Quantum Boards. It's a wonderful time for indoor growers... so much great tech has emerged in the last decade.CMH. Full spectrum, less power and heat, higher quality and yield, longer bulb lifetime.View attachment 4240392

so really you just make a little fixture and use phillips bulbs and call yourself the shit?
S/He also spam posts that message in a bunch of places, posts comparisons to QBs without actually showing what lights are in the grow room, then doesn't respond when called out (at least not yet)so really you just make a little fixture and use phillips bulbs and call yourself the shit?
Timber and HLG are very good stuff. DIY strip lights with Samsung or Bridgelux strips are very popular for their high efficiency, great light distribution and lower cost than other good LEDs. 300w will rock a 3x3. Get some aluminum angle or channel, strips and driver, then slap it together. http://ledgardener.com/diy-led-strip-build-designs-samsung-bridgelux/Ok so what are people opinion. I just moved and don't have thetheeans to run my 600watt my/hps. I just can't air cool it on my new place. Without that it's just way too hot. I'm looking at timbers 400watt it has 4 100 watt veros. I'm also looking at optic led 4 or 6. This is for a 3x3 tent. I'll admit I have had great results with my mh/hps. But I just can't do the heat any more. Any input would be great. I also like hlg 300watt v2. Im not sure where to turn. Veros, Samsung topbin dioedes. Or cob and some 5 watt dioed that being optic led
I've had very good luck with running de hps to an LED best of both worlds. But yes height clearance is everything when it comes to LEDs.Losing a few sales by voicing my opinion is not going to upset me if thats the way you perceive it. I speak my mind and i dont sell seeds as my only source income. I do it cause i enjoy it and love handing off fire ass genetics to other people.
Maybe you can go to another seed bank where they will sugar coat there words,Hand you lies and bullshit to sound "professional" and lie about what genetics there using and give you males in feminized seeds. Im not here for popularity. I stated my opinions. I only post pics that i took and plants that i grew. If thats to much to handle than there are other seed breeders that would be happy to accommodate you. At least with me you always know where i stand. If i dont got it, I dont got it. No stories or excuses here homie. not gonna make up shit or sell people garbage to turn a few extra dollars. I toss anything that remotely looks like a dud
Hps sorry typoI've had very good luck with running de hps to an LED best of both worlds. But yes height clearance is everything when it comes to LEDs.
Yes I know all of that and said that earlier. The problem is no one actually clarifies that. All I read is they don’t produce as much heat, and watt for watt they are the exact same as any light. I run 416 watts of t5’s for veg and “I” get the same growth as a 600 for the first 30 days so I get the difference but I don’t say my t5’s run cooler, I say I need less wattage, Symantec’s I guess. If I didn’t need heat I’d probably run LED .Yes, bud, but they produce more light per watt, so you can run less watts therefore less heat. They're more efficient.
As far as yield I won't comment.
EDIT: perfect apples to apples comparison:
A 40w incandescent replacement LED runs at 3.3w. that's over 100 BTU difference in heat. This is what LED growers are talking about. Energy saved on lighting and climate control. I know HID is way more efficient than incandescent, but you get the idea.
Who told you we just make a little fixture?so really you just make a little fixture and use phillips bulbs and call yourself the shit?
How long do you warrant your bulbs? If you want to send me 1, I will try it out and do a review.(whole fixture)Who told you we just make a little fixture?
We also manufacture CMH bulbs, 315W, 630W and 1000W. Here is the link: https://www.sunplix.com/product-category/bulbs/
They have good fixtures and customer support is on point. How long do you warrant your bulbs? If you want to send me 1, I will try it out and do a review.(whole fixture)
