hey guys I'm finally expanding and next on my shopping list will be two lights to cover a 4x8 space, I've been in love with the hlg600 but with a 800$ price tag, and that I need two, it's just kinda out my reach right now.

so I'm trying to see if maybe going with cobs may be cheaper, but I'm open to ideas for covering a 4x8 space!

also what do you guys prefer when it comes to qb vs cobs!

I recommend
4x hlg 96elitev2 w/ sstx heatsink
Hlg-600h-54
Wire in parallel
640 watts of super efficient white light with red and far red diodes
Depending on frame, $650-$700 each fixture for 4x4

COBs and qbs all work well. These ones I recommend are the best way to get bang for your buck cause you can run em at 160+w without any active cooling.

One of my builds was using the Samsung LT-Q562A strps and they are rated from 450 to 900ma at 24 volts. They are adhered to a sheet of aluminum that is 0.080 inches. They have oscillating fans blowing over and under to keep cool and air movement to plants and everything is very cool to the touch running 600watts on the four by four foot with 28 LT-Q562A driven by HLG-600H-24B. Samsung has a cool calculator to help you out. Just google search samsung engine calculator.(of course its for using there products) I bought 200 strips to make 7 boards and I paid $6.52 a strip(40 diodes of LM301B) So each board costed me$182.56 for strips, can't see it being easier and or cheaper. Also I added 660nm, 730nm, 390nm, and 850nm. All of this is controlled wifi with a bluefish controller, 5 seperate channels controlled separately. Pretty much the same as QB but a much better spread of light and easier heat management. But that's the great thing about DIY- it suits me and my needs and makes me happy. Everyone is different.

Awesome build. What kind of diodes are you running on the 390, 660, 730, 850nm?

I was kind of in a rush and spent a little more than i wanted(Price out 12 of each and you will see.) but the emerson effect boards(660 and 730) and exotic boards(390 and 850) bought from Rapidled. Plants were ready and needed easy way out. But all in all happy with the purchase from Rapid. From what I know XP-E HE Photo Red and XP-E Far Red LEDs, Exotics are SemiLEDs UVA LEDs and SemiLEDs Infrared LEDs. Next build i am doing will have different way of adding all of them. Liking what cutter.com.au is doing with their new stuff. Mark over there is pretty awesome and glad I stumbled on.

I haven't done a side by side but everything that I've read may as well try it, can't hurt. Lots are claiming better results and it makes sense. I want to try the solacure or argomax bulbs, thinking that you would benefit from them as well.
I've heard of the agromax, and no one is talking down about them!
