Sweet!!!!!!! I took a jig saw to my lids too works way better from what i read people using the Styrofoam lids are still having to add frozen water bottles ..
yea, after about a week or so im totally diggin using the other lid... i dont have water dripping down the back if i tip it to open it, temps are even more stable and i dont have a bunch of little styrofoam balls everywhere... not to mention i also didnt have to cover the lid in reflective tape, but i did grab some panda film since its easy to wipe off and whatnot...
as to the person asking what i did, i just drilled a hole with a paddle/spade bit to get my jigsaw in there and cut holes slightly smaller than my 6" netpots... drilled a hole for airlines, and another one for the water hose, attached a water hose to a cheap submersible pump... i secured all airstones and lines loosely with cable ties attached to cable tie mounting bases that can be found in a low voltage wiring dept at lowes or home depot... if you want to do recirc all youd have to do is buy a cooler with a water hose thread on the drain and use that for your return, and make the necessary modifications to your system... i plan on doing that with auto-dosers soon...
