Blueberry bushes are still alive. We can see them from the road when we walk by the field. The Easter cold got all the blooms on Sister's. Have not looked closely at mine (on the sandhill), but they are growing good. Back when the bucks were in velvet, one of the sons of bitches tore the shit out of a blueberry bush.

Tayberries are looking really good. The other side looks the same. Going to get a bunch of berries. Definitely won't be able to keep up with eating them. I better get some freezer bags.

The other side. The Tayberry is more aggressive than the Raspberry and is crowding it out. I'm going to move the Raspberries back in the corner along the fence where they can grow on their own without being bullied. Just have to dig up a rose that nobody sees. I have a spot in the front yard waiting for it. I'll do all that this fall though.

The Blueberries are loaded as well.

Should get a decent amount of Strawberries from the side of the house and the plants I have in the back. Most are Seascape but I have some Hoods which will be a treat if the slugs don't get them first. So far I've been on the slug prevention pretty good and haven't came across too many but I know that they're just hiding. I also think the squirrels and birds eat the berries as well. I know they go after the Blueberries but they don't don't cause too much damage and they have to eat as well.

The huckleberries are getting ripe. We have more on the pond land than anywhere else.


Lots of down trees making it harder to get to them.

SO many berries! It's like heaven here. Cloning the blueberry takes a while for me. I really need to figure them out still.

No I haven't. I've seen them online but they want $10 a plant for them. I might get one and just use the runners for more plants.

If I had known this was going to be a good bush, I maybe would have remembered to clean out all the vines and unwanted trees. The lady we bought the riverhouse from told us about her step-mom cleaning it out with her oxygen tank in tow. It's not a lack of air for me, but time.

Saw a chicken jump up at the south end of a row of cedars. Went over to check it out and found these berries. For the next few days I'll get what they can't see/reach.

I've been trying for over a week to get back to the pond to pick some of the wild blueberries. I ran down there last night after supper. The pond is up since last week, and I had to do some serious bushwhacking to keep my feet dry. Was worth it. I know where there are several more trees around the pond, I just need to go with time to spare.

Started picking the red raspberries this week

Black raspberries coming up next. Ours really blew up this year

Then it'll be wineberry season, they're basically invasive in the woods around here. They keep their fruits hidden inside the flower until they're almost ripe, so it's hard to tell exactly when they're going to be ready

I've been getting a few blueberries every other day or so. Not a lot on the bushes this year.

Yes, the late frost really put a hurting on the berries. It got most of the huckleberries here too.

Cousin Johnny is gone for a few days, so with my main blueberry picking rival away, I ate my fill tonight. (if he is here I fell like I should leave a few for him, as he picks early in the morning and I'm there about midnight)

I had my first run in with a black bear of the year in my front yard last night when he set off several motion sensors and got me curious as to what was going on. He was in my mulch bed trying to get through the fence around my tiny blueberry bush . I have wine berries, tons of wild blackberries and two very unkempt blueberry bushes all of which are very popular at the bear cafe. I put up deterrents for the blueberry bushes but the rest we share. I'm not going without my blueberry muffins dammit, me and the bears will fight over that.
