Finnaly it's time for an update, I spent my only day off this week getting nasty and sweaty in the woods, slaving over my babies. I brought 14 more Roadtrip seedlings out, and made new plots for them, I have many many plots sitting on the other side of the river with no plants, but i wanted to save those for the nirvana seeds that i haven't germinated yet.
my reasoning being that most of the heavy lifting and hauling should be done as early in the season as possible. This is because most of the vegitation is very young earlier in the season, and you will be making quite a few trails hauling dirt and fencing around. they will be less obvious when there are no waist high fresh veggies to trample, and once the grasses and nettles do get that high, they will completely cover most all proof of your hard work trampling through the woods. by the end of the month when all my plants are out there the vegitation will be very high and i don't want to be killing it while carrying 160 pounds of soil 6-8 times back and forth. every day. by doing it now i will minimize impact to the environment and help avoid detection.
By the time i had hiked to base camp one, the mosquitoes had pretty much drained all my blood and patience, the second i got there i dropped my pack and started a nice fire, and tossed a bunch of wet rotten wood on top. this makes lots of smoke that keeps the mosquitoes away. i stood directly in the path of the smoke so i would reak like it all day, and had few problems with the little buggers aftarward. i ended up smoking up a few acres though and don't recomend it unless you have too, from now on im bringing deep woods, 29% deet.
well the process is the same every time, pour 3 bags of soil onto a canvas, add garden lime to raise ph, (peat is very acidic and lowers the ph, causeing nutrient lockout, wich i was having problems with the first few weeks with my skunk#1's)mix well and fill 6 tripple bagged cub foods bags, i did this twice then located a new spot, and brought it all out there, 4 bags at a time, and a final trip with the root block tarp, fencing, and seedlings.
I took a few pics to show how i hide my fencing and root block and supplies, by covering them with bark so they are less obvious at a distance.
here is a pic of the abandoned field neer my appartment, i planted 4 plants in individual plots today with cones of fence around them, possibly tomorow i will plant the final 4 out there as well, tell me a pot plant wouldn't blend in with these plants!!!! they look like a bit cannibus sea of green!!!
I had a deer standing about 30 feet from me for about 5 minutes while i was working, i tried to get a pic but it was so dark all you can see are her eyes, damnit!!!elusive creatures, I have not gone a single trip out there without seeing at least a dozen deer, they are infested, i nearly stepped on a turkey hen as well, scared the crap out of me when it exploded into the air. also here is a little toady that was watching me fill grow bags, lol.
and here is some pics of my skunk#1/white rhino's they have gotten over there ph problem (you can see the crappy bottom leaves) and are just starting to enter vegitative growth, i expect them to take off very soon, and should be doubled in height by next week.
