those were 80 mm

i guess the cxb throws off a tiny bit more heat at 75W relative to an 1825
I have had no issues but I cannot grab and hold neither the sinks on these or the drivers (remote mounted) without having to let go.

My 1K HPS ballast I can grab all day long. I just wouldn't want less cooling at that wattage and inside my flower tent there's a shit load of airflow especially on the COB side.

why do you need to do that?

heatsinks operate more efficiently when hot theres nothing wrong with a 70C sink, the chip is still at its nominal design of 85C

a little hotter than some people like to run but well within design specs. the cobs are gonna throw off the heat theyre gonna throw off. unless youre removing by water cooling or ducted hoods its the same heat load to your environment

I understand all of that. Not arguing anything just gave my opinion. I would not want to run 3590's at 75 w on a 120 ...........

Had a chance to try robins lense with a few combos. Seems to work fine with his old 140mm x 80mm round hs. (Hopefully the 130mm he talks about will be similar ) but it did not work with the sstx he sent me.problem with that particular sstx was the drilled holes were turned at a 45d angle and that prohibited it from mounting right. But should be fine on any round sink like the 120mm 130mm and 140mm.here is the 140mm mounted

Worst case i would need to add another set of slots offset to accommodate lense mounting but for now i have other projects slated not related to grow equipment lol

Looks good @sixstring2112

I'm going to throw out a thought here though. Installed that way the bar doesn't add to the cooling capacity because the lenses are between the bar and the heat sink. Maybe longer screws and the lens on the outside so the heat sink and frame contact each other ?

The mod 420 frame on my one light kept the fixtures a lot cooler than the bar frames I built out of angled aluminum. On the mod420 I could grab the heat sinks and never let go not the case on my diy built bars. 25 watt difference between the fixtures so it shouldn't be that drastic of a difference.

Maybe I'm off base and this was an isolated deal but it would be awesome for the bars with these lenses to function in harmony while still adding to the passive cooling capacity overall.

Just my $0.02

sounds like you want your cake and eat it to lmao.as of right now you can use the right heatsink for the job and also use lenses or..... if you file off the lil nubs on the outter part of the lense it will work as you suggested.but if you mount it this way the outter casing will not be holding the inner lense down properly.the only fix would be to totally change my hole patterns to size it perfect for that one lense so it works like it would on a plain heatsink.if these things sell well i will consider making these types of changes but as of now i spent way too much time on this project and have most of my personal stuff cut,im now working on a bunch of artsy shtuff for my wife that has nothing to do with growing weed lol.plus i have a friend that wants me to make him about 2000 custom aftermarket car/truck parts so the machine is kinda tied up making me some money back :hump:
like i said before ,if these bars get decent interest, people buying them, i have no problem changing hole sizes, lengths between cobs and even longer bars up to 10 feet long

I hear you brother and was just trying to offer some info to help you out is all the frames are all beautiful and the guitars are a nice touch.

Props

So i just slapped this on the outside of the bar.now it works with longer screws than what i get from robin but it also holds the lense a lil further away from the cob so idk alot about these lenses but its at least 1/8 in further away than if it was mounted right on the heatsink.again this is with the 140mm round heatsink.this lense is too big for a 120mm heatsink otherwise I would have tried it also :)

That was also installed on the larger 5 hole bar so it would def work on all those smaller diameter holes of the 2 ,3,and 4 cob bars.mod420v6 uses larger holes like the 5 cob which is 3.75in vs 3.5 in on the smaller bars
