Hey guys,

Got a bit lucky and scored what looks to be a viable seed in one of my prescriptions. Its from some pretty awesome stuff so I would love to pop it and give it a shot :D

However, over the years I've heard its a bad idea to pop bag seeds from sinsemilla as its likely they will hermy. I've chucked it in some rockwool I've soaked so we'll see if it does pop.

In the meantime does anyone have much knowledge or experience using bag seeds from medical cannabis?

Thanks :)

Some of the most famous strains are bag seed. Chemdog, Cookies, Sour D etc. Hermies are a fact of the cannabis genetics, and have led to pretty amazing progeny that don’t display hermaphroditism.

Pop it, keep an eye out for any bananas and see what you get. May be an amazing plant.

there are a few other factors to think about. whether it's worth it us up to you, like said above you don't know until you try it.

the seed came from either:

1) the plant being stressed and herming, producing an S1 of itself that would tend to carry higher chance of herm again. this would at least be higher chance of being same as the strain you enjoyed.

2) another strain in same room hermed and pollinated this one. no way of knowing what the other parent may be. slightly less chance of herms but also untested genetics. could be awesome, could be not awesome.

3) a stray male was in a room and pollinated the plant you got the seed from. see above. less risk of herms but no way to know what you are actually growing

if it was something I really loved I would save my energy on a dice roll, and find either a clone or seeds of the strain.

what is the strain you are working with and where do you live?

Personally, if it was good medicine, I would grow it, clone it, flower it and smoke it. If it turns out as good as you remember then make more clones.
