Iv just ordered on off eBay, but I use coco so it needs watering all the time.
If you use this on soil you'll have to be carefull not to over water with it

I use this in soil for when I go on Vacation
-you need to time the first run until you get runoff you want. Then set your timer to that amount of time . And only fill the resi with about 1/2 gallon more than what you need
- takes some tweaking but once you get it dialed in , it’s worry free

Water until runoff but how often? My soil honestly takes a week+ to dry out

Wondering about this too - bought a similar simple auto watering system that covers 4 pots - the intent is just to use it while I am away from home for a couple days. Curious if anyone has theirs dialed in for 5g pots?

Depends on size/age of the plant
If your soil takes a week to dry, there is a problem... should be 2,3,4 days

Not necessarily, mine drove me crazy dialing it in. So what Gallon per min?? My advice is to set it up maybe outside , and play with it. Nothing worse than leaving out of town wondering if that shits going to work.

If your pots are taking a week to dry you’re over watering honestly. I can’t see your plant to pot comparison but that’s lack of airflow+ over watering. And if you’re doing it right and they are wet for a week boom money saved, you got a week+ till you need to get home

Over time its become a mix of FFOF, Happy Frog, Roots Organic, and some Compost. Over time its gotten better, and is continuing to do so, but as far as a full dry out in 4 days.. Nope.

No, theyre not getting over watered, im just not getting the explosive growth and root development that i want to get from a more constant dry out. Will post up some pics tomorrow of what theyre looking like

I agree, it sounds like you have quality soil that just doesn't have enough aeration - I'd imagine you'd see a huge difference if you added some perlite or pumice

Look at BluMat systems. They are the best by far for soil. The plant controllers the flow of water. Not the timer and human.... put nature in controll.
