Autoflowers on 12/12 make bigger buds?

So I ran into a guy at a get together recently who "seemed" pretty knowledgeable about growing cannibis. He said I need to switch my autos from 20/4 to 12/12 to make them grow bigger buds. He says buds are made during dark hours and vegetative growth is done during the day. Idk man, I did put them down to 18/6 but I'm not sure if this is just his opinion or he's trying to 'stunt' like he's God all knowing when it come to cannibis cultivation (that's honestly what it seemed liked) what do y'all think??

Buds aren’t made during dark hours, and if you were giving too much light 20/4 and cut it to 12/12 and see a gain then that would make sense. Get the same results dimming the light and leave on 20/4

He is wrong or as some people like to refer to as full of shit. Please do yourself a favor and ignore him. Many people "seem" knowledgeable but since he is wrong I would not want to trust that knowledge. Just because someone knows a ton of things does not make what they know right. Yes, plants grow at night but they need the process of photosynthesis which happens in the day. Stick with 18/6 or 20/4.
