And remember its always best to keep the light as close as you can to the plant w/o burning it, the closer the plant the more lumens your plant receives and the deeper it can penetrate the canopy bringing light/lumens to the lower branches as well making those buds bigger. Might not do much good this late in the cycle (not sure what strain it is the harvest time can vary) Thats why I linked FDD's tut so you can learn yourself and be able to tell. But I would give her at least 2 1/2 - 3 more weeks before thinking bout chopping it.

Hmm not sure how often you water, but wait maybe a week at the most before you begin to flush.

here's my first harvest out of 11 autos, I planted these 2 about 2 weeks before my others. One is a roadrunner, the smaller of the 2 came from a pack of Lowryder dwarf mix, they could have gone a little longer, they're a little leafy, but sticky, and have lots of trichs that were amber.

Nimbin, you know my backstory, but for anyone else, heres my basic situation, as brief as possible.

1st grow, autos (ak47's & white russians) in hydro.

Chopped the largest colas on 3-29. So it will be 2 weeks this comng Monday.

Heres my problem........


I smell no funk. I do not have the funk thus far.

There are a good amount of trichs, etc. Had to chop about a week early due to some size constraints, but I def. had good looking & smelling nodgies when they were alive.

I chopped Monday 3-29, put into a dryer box w/ hemp twine & hung them from there for 3 days. Then into mason jars. Got SUPER moist the next day, so back in the box for another 2 days. THen finished usin combination of paper grocery bags & mason jars.

I'm burpin jars bout twice a day now, and Nimbin, that super pungent vegetative (hay) type smell is starting to dissipate, & a typical ganj-A smell is starting to take over. But it just ain't the funk. Very tame smellin, and again, I can still see a copious amounts of trichs, so I'm just confused.

Did I screw the dog with a drying improperly, or do I just need to settle down & give the teripins a few more days or weeks to develop.

I guess I'm askin, from ya'lls chops, are ya'lls chopped girls stankly from jump street on chop day. Or does it take a few weeks for the true stanky dankiness to come through.

Well no funk aye? In flower marijuana plants will smell the most an hour before the lights go on. But you are cutting off the main cola (usually biggest bud on the plant, which in turn is the most scent producing), I would assume cutting it like that would make the plant go into stress. Possibly hindering the plant from producing that "funk". Just a guess though, I mean it still smells like the cola's you chopped dont they? Just not a real pungent scent? Either way you shouldn't worry to much, your almost finished.

You chopped on 3-29 but what was their total age prior to chopping?Are the trich's all clear n the buds still in flower or are they turning orange? Its usually good to go by the trich color if your trying to get the max potential out of your buds. Ever Read FDD's tut on harvesting?

When you dry/cure, if my buds are a little "wet" I will leave my jar about 1/3 empty (most people recommend for you to fill your jars 7/8 of the way when curing. When the buds are in the jar excess moisture is being pulled out/from them and into the empty space in the jar. Which is why you burn them to release that small bit of moisture every 12 hours or so however often you do it. But if they are too damp I would let them sit out but usually they finish in the jars. And you will notice around day 12-14 of the curing process that the "real" scent/flavor of the bud really starts to come out cause chemicals are breaking down, the hay smell has passed, and the buds are ready for their glory. Dont cure no less then 2 weeks. Most people (the more serious growers) will cure no less then 1 month. After the 14 days you shouldn't need to burp cept every couple weeks or so depending on where its stored i guess.

all in all not bad for a first from what you chopped down so far. Just make sure very important to keep the light(s) as close as you can. Even if you need a fan blowing across the tops of the plants (which i do anyway :p ). That way your plants get maximum lumen intake, and it can penetrate deeper into the canopy. :blsmoke:

Are those auto lemon skunk? maybe a dumb question because this is the auto forum, but you didnt specify and I was curious, because I have some DNA lemon skunk, and what you show there looks pretty nice.

has anybody grew second generation low ryder seeds. while i was growing my lowryder i tok one male and 1 healthy female and bread that shit sepratly and got tons of great seeds from it. I spoke to somebody and he said that the second generation of the seeds dont produce as much as the first one that i got from the seed company . does anybody know how these seeds will be? thanks

preesh the wisdom my man. actually all the lower stuff got chopped bout 5 days later (last saturday) & is hangin right now. had to make move for another run of reg. photo period gals that were just gettin entirely too big. i'm only 1 week into bloom on those gals but pretty sure i'm gonna get grown out what my space can handle. which was why i had to chop autos. they were on day 69 or 70 when i grabbed the guys u saw in the pics. those photo gals were every bit o' 20-24" tall when i put em in the system & switched em to 12/12 last week. pinchin & bendin my ass off dude. hopefully i won't get overgrown, but we show nuff gonna find out:hump:

ahh, preesh that my friend, just had to make sure. No prob. w/ patience, I can forget about em if needs be. still burp em o' course, but i have no problem waitin in out.

is intersestin to note, that i chopped all the lower material bout 5 days after those nodgies u saw got chopped. & they have are still in & out of the dry box & paper bag, but seem to omit much more of the funk i seek. they don't have nearly the trichs & hairs that the big gals do though.

Do ya start from the time the sprout breaks the surface?

From the day they say are finished bustin out of a rapid rooter, or cube & transfer into diff. medium?

whats the prop. protocol??

Great stuff. Im germing 10 short stuff mi5 as we speak. With ten himalaya blue diesel and ten purple jems waiting in the wings. These will b started under cfls then the fems will b moved ouside, best male will get a window sill. I will b collecting pollen, and breeding f2s of each strain as well as do a lil pollen chucking n see wat kind of crosses i come up with.
Its definately gonna b a good summer..

Ps-Am i the only person that thinks its time for a "autoflower" forum on riu?
