Hi all and thanks for dropping by if any of you have any input/feedback/criticism this will be greatly taken on board. I have jut bought the set up you see below in the pics. It is meant to be for a mother plant so I can take cuttings and do a summer grow outdoors. But before I have a go at that I ordered some seeds off the internet (auto berry) and will do one or two grows 1st. I realise when the berry starts flowering I will need to change the cfl from a cool white to a warm white. I am also not using a carbon filter or an 125 rvk fan. Will get that as the grow progresses.
The tent is 75x75x200 grow tent
I am using a £50 flo grow and my medium is hydrokorrel pebbles.
Will 1st use a Sunmate 55w fluoro light for the seedlings, then change to the 250w cfl.
If you have any questions feel free to ask.

SL273668.jpgTomorite, spider mites pest off, Nytrozyme (is this any good)
PH down, and 2x bottles of ph acid test type stuff.
SL273683.jpgJust checked the temp at this low down. 33/90 degrees.
Think I need a fan!!!!

bloody pain to wash!!! You were right Jon... wash wash wash
wash wash wash wash wash. lol

Have just done a water ph test. 7.2!!
Will leave it overnight and test again tomorrow, then adjust accordingly with ph down. Just need to start thinking about watering times for the electric timer. May start 15 mins every 3 hours 1st and see how it goes. Lighting will be 20/4 by the way, just doing this water and lighting test 1st to have a sort of hake down test. If something goes wrong I want it to go wrong now, not when the plant is in there.

That is a good plan. I always run something for a couple days before any Cannabis goes in. I've heard of Hydro Guys running Hydrogen Peroxide for a day or two also to sterilize everything. I do with my Aero-cloner.

Running Hydrogen peroxide? How? Aint that some pretty dangerous shit anyway
It is dangerous at high concentrations, but it is H202 so the extra O binds to the bad stuff. The Hydrogen Peroxide you buy at the supermarket is 3%, so I mix it with half plain water. I run it for several hours, then rinse. When you put it on a cut the fizzing is the Oxygen molecule. I think you can get it at 30% and higher, but no reason. Do more research cause I'm not positive on the mix, but I know it works.

Just been going through the watering times, should you water during lights out? My lights will be 20/4. They will come on at 4am. Then will be watered every 3 hours for 15 mins. So that means the last watering will be at 10pm, then lights out at midnight. If you take that into account the plant will have its last water at 10 pm then the heat from the light for two hours. Then lights out for 4. Then when the lights come back on at 4am they will have the heat from the lights for three hours before there 1st watering. So that a total of 9 hours of no water 5 of which is under 250w cfl. I was thinking of maybe one water at maybe 2am for 5 or 10 mins. What do people think? Thinking of just going with the 9 hours of no watering and seeing what happens!

Usually you dont water during the dark period.

BUt then im not a hydro guy (yet!) I would assume the drop in temp and the natural rise in RH would warrant not adding any more water into the air by feeding them.

BUt dont forget you have to germinate first and get them into a small rockwool seed starter cube or something so that the seed can grow roots and then transplant into your FLO GROW. As far as im aware you will not be able to grow the seed straight in the Pebbles it will need starting first.

I looked up the Flo-Gro and it's a top-feed Eb and Flow so I assume you have to water every few hrs. all the time. Roots will dry out fast as far as I know.

SL273684.jpgThe auto berry in its 1st temporary home. Can't wait to see the tap root!

SL273686.jpgThe system set-up, with the bargain £6.22 B & Q fan!!! Currently switched on for a dummy run.

Hooray got the seeds this morning. Cheeky fuckers, they have charged me £10 before for stealth shipping, which is in a cd case. This time i thought fuck it and just paid standard delivery for a fiver!!! What does it come delivered in? Yep thats right a cd case!!!!!
Anyway just put the seed in paper towel with 6.2 ph water.

Got a 12" fan earlier, £6.22 from b&q. And a water bottle misterto mist up the leaves as my northern lights I got seems to have papery leaves. Plugged in the fan and swithed on the fan and light. Its now running at 79c all closed up and light/fan running together, so am quite happy. The water I have in the tank is on a timer and am doing a dummy run so to speak. If all goes ok and is sweet I will add my nitrozyme nutes to the 17 litres in the flo grow then do a ph test and lower/raise as needed.

bit of advice !
when you have a plant in the flo gro dont aim that fan as it is now, you maybe better off pointing it either at the light or you could spin it 180degrees and point it towards your tent otherwise you will have too much wind blowing at your young plant.

Just been thinking. As I have a 240w cfl that i will be growing the berry under. Does anyone think germinating another seed and maybe growing it side by side but in soil? Or would the light struggle with 2 plants? If the plants would struggle under the lights then one will do. Anyone with ideas?

True, very true Jon. But would rather have one good plant with good yield rather than two that have struggled under the 250w cfl.

In fact fu*k it, I'm gonna germinate another!! lol

Just germinated another and got the bowl out of the airing cupboard. Bloody hell the bowl was hot. The seeds must of been stewing and not germinating, think i'll germ them in the drawer in the bedroom!!!

Been thinking about the best possible times to have the lights on. This is what I have come up with;

3pm Lights On
6pm Water (all waterings will be for 15 min periods when I start out, unless anyone can recommend ideal watering times)
9pm Water
12am Water
3am Water
6am Water
9am Water
11am Lights Off.

Thanx for the watering advice Dan. I did think about watering during the dark period, cos on my timings after the last watering the plant is then under the lights for 2hours, then 4 hours lights out, then when the lights come back on it will be another 3 hours before being watered again. A total of nine hours, 5 of which will be under lights. So yeah you are deffinately on to something. Will throw a 2pm watering also.

Checked the paper towel earlier and one of the seeds has started to show already. Have soaked 2 grow cubes (check out pic below) in 6.2ph water and squeezed out some excess as they were saturated. Am getting nervous/excited now as I really want this to work, but the grow cube is the only thing I think that could be problematic. Is a soil based cube with netting, so will have to check on it as the routes will not penetrate the netting so will have to take this off. Hopefully it will not break up too much if at all. But would the soil then fall into the resevoir at the bottom and then get into the water pump? Will have to check and see what happens.

SL273687.jpgWent to my local groworks and they recommended these as they promote route growth. (We will soon see)

Below is my Northern Lights that is still budding and has been for what seems like months.

Been looking on the forum and noticed chat about benefits of using an airstone. Is this needed in my flo grow set-up, been thinking it wont hurt but would it really benefit?
