Just wanted to put in my 2cents in regards to online privacy...
well put - although it would be interesting to see if they are capable of getting anything useful from encrypted/torrified content they capture. if they can do it then so can other nations which means many blue activists, LE and military (including on the field) communications would be compromised.
Putting aside the technical arguments, i'd rather work with a tech started and still in use by the US Navy! If there is a way for LE to track (and more importantly make sense) of tor communications, i'm sure the sailors will be informed and they'll fix it or get their cia pals, who also use it for their communications to do it for them
. being an open source project, we also get their fixes
bottom line is intelligence agencies and the military are not going to let their comms be compromised to help LE catch some stoners
the main problem as highlighted by recent events is hackers rather than LE, looks like they brought DPR to his knees! but once again, being insignificant helps there - DPR makes millions (if not billions) from his operations - i'll stick to not making any money from it i think lol.
...oops, i get a feeling i just triggered a whole bunch of keywords for those traffic analysis puters :/ ... so to reiterate; "i'll stick to not making any money from it"
