I'm new to growing. A kind, generous member gave me some seeds and this is what I have, so far. Two completely different cultivars, both hatched at the same time.

From the label that came on the seeds I know this as Blue Jag

But after playing with the seeds, labelling, storing etc., I found this one on the bench and have no idea what it is, but I like it. Looks like this one will finish before the BJ, which is my hope. I know it is a long shot, but any ideas as to what it could be? Fan leves are very thin and have no more than 3 fingers on any of them. Serrations were late to develop. Could it be Durban Poison as they were some that I was gifted?

Can you cage it or provide support for those buds? They look like they'll be absolutely groaning under their own weight by the time they're done.

Can you cage it or provide support for those buds? They look like they'll be absolutely groaning under their own weight by the time they're done.

Yes I can. I can/will put up something around them. Not sure what I was expecting at first. Brick wall would be handy.

Soon as it sprouted it started into flower, and I'm not really proud of my clone success rate, tho the shape of those leaves is a tell tail strong sativa from my understanding.

In the early 70's a friend brought an ounce of DP seeds back into Australia after a surfing and smoking trip of South Africa. His seeds had an influence along some areas of the NSW coast before what we are presented with now became the reality.

Okay I'm hoping that someone who likes to identify strains can put their finger on the two I grew from cuttings from a friend of a friend. Both have been raised with home made compost with seamungus, dolomite and 10% perlite mixed in. Since flowering they get unsulphured molasses every few days with their drinking water, occasional epsom salts and a few seamungus pellets.



Plant one was described by the guy who gave the cuttings as being a sativa leaning hybrid. It's in a 40 litre pot. It showed pre-flowers just before christmas and bloomed strongly for 5-6 weeks now and grown to 5' 5" soil up. I reckon it's got 3-4 weeks to go. The plant smells of pineapple and also mint. Any ideas as to the strain?





Plant 2 is described as a Haze. I were warned that it'd grow to 8 feet if I didn't control it. It went into a 20 litre pot and I topped it once in veg. It showed pre flowers at the same time as plant 1, but unlike that one full flowering only started a few weeks ago, the stretch is slowing, it's now 5'2". Like plant 1 it's roots are potbound. This plant has no aroma and early trichs have just started showing. I mentioned to my friend that as an insomniac I might prefer an Indica, he said that in the hot humid climate here the bud rot and insects would get to an outside grow first. If I want a more stoned chilled feeling I should leave the plant until 50% of trichs are amber/bronze.

Glad its working for you. Did you make the sodium citrate or sub it out?

subbed it for bicarbonate - do you know if this would affect the result at all?

Virtually impossible to know which strains but plant 1 looks to be a sativa dom hybrid, maybe something like grapefruit but could be any of a milllion crosses. Plant 2 is not a straight haze but if you got it as haze it is probably a haze cross.

They are nice plants but both of them are pretty hungry and could do with some good feeding.

Not sure but making the sodium citrate was a bit messy so if bicarb does the job just the same thats good news!

Stop in here every now an then, place is allot quiter then it used to be. It's all luck on my behalf tho might have to drop in and have a look at one of your more recent grows to see how it's done.
Been fair few colder nights out my way lately which would be helping with the colouring I'd reckon.

Lot of back an forth with lockdowns and border closures end of the day it is what it is tho. Could of been worse if certain things wernt out in place early on.

Looking good, mate. Gotta agree with @klx that they look hungry, just don't go mad with a heavy hit of N right now they're in flower.

They will tell you what they need, you just need to be attuned to them & respond accordingly. They're girls,after all.........

I gathered up a few nuts of roo poo for a gentle nitrogen fix and a couple of handfuls of seamungus - I steer clear of chemical fixes so hopefully there won't be too much N going in, but also some cal and P. I'm thinking the molasses tea and epsom salts help with the Mag and K. What do you and Kix say to this?
I have had a minor concern with PH in recent weeks. I had been watering with tap water which reads 6.8 but when the runoff read 7.4 I switched to tank water which goes in at 5.8/6.0. The runoff slowly came down to about 6.7 which was pleasing, however in the past week I've noticed it's creeping back up to 7ish with the runoff colour less brown. I did read somewhere that when nutes are low there can be a tendency for the PH to rise with potted plants. So yeah with great feedback from here and what I've read, they must be hungry.

Anyone here had any success playing around with Hydrobuddy & being able to source the necessary salts in Oz?

Calcium Nitrate, Potassium Nitrate, MKP - eall easy to get in bulk. Trace elements can be sourced from Bunnings. It's the other salts in the DB that is the basis of my question.

NTS has Potassium Silicate available online, Anpros has Ammonium Dibasic Phosphate. Manutec make a Magnesium Nitrate (Hexahydrate), you can still find it online. Bunnings for Yates Health Tonic Trace Element Chelates. Plant Doctor has Fulvic Acid.
Veg per 30L (187/75/218/116 Ca/67 Mg):

18g Calcium Nitrate (ag grade)
15ml Yates Health Tonic Trace Element Chelates
5g NTS Potassium Silicate
10g Potassium Nitrate
12g Magnesium Sulfate (Heptahydrate)
8g Potassium Monobasic Phosphate
3g Ammonium Dibasic Phosphate
8g Magnesium Nitrate (Hexahydrate)

Flower per 30L (110/107/216/115 Ca/ 60 Mg):
18g Calcium Nitrate (ag grade)
15ml Yates Health Tonic Trace Element Chelates
6g NTS Potassium Silicate
4g Potassium Nitrate
18g Magnesium Sulfate (Heptahydrate)
16.5g Potassium Monobasic Phosphate

Just grow healthy plants & the rest will take care of itself....as long as you trust yourself & your knowledge..

I used to brew beer as well. The stouts always came out the best hic! Final weeks can be nervous weeks. Bloody rain and humidity up near 100% day and night and not expected to improve until after the weekend, but hey-ho the expectation and apprehension is what makes the challenge of growing fun.

Here's a couple that I started late in the season due to a narky neighbour & they're waaay behind where I wanted them to be.


L-R Leda Uno, Charlotte's Angel#2 pheno & Charlotte's Angel pheno #1.

They've all been devastatingly cloned to within an inch of their life & have survived to what you see here.

I won't show the cloning results. That's another story....

I'm growing the whole lot in coco with hydro nutes. I don't PH the incoming & don't PH the outgoing.

RDWHAHB.......

It's a learning curve mate. Just go with it.

Anybody know what causes the odd leaf tip or single leaflet of a fan leaf to die and look ill? i have some fungus gnats in the pot i'm trying to get on top of

often its just the plant removing the mobile nutrients contained in the fan leaf. Gnats need to be in hge numbers to bother the plant. Thye are more annoying than anything else.
