Aussie Growers Thread

Definitely a bit of luck, seeds were acquired from a private collection from an old x grower. Was given a collection of strains that go back to the late 80’s mid 90’s.

I only had 2 seeds of the AG one failed to germ and the other took ages to pop then I was sure it would be a male.

I have taken a few cuts of it just in case it was worth keeping never grown anything that resembles this particular plant or a pure sativa that hasn’t been molested.

I have got another landrace sativa called St Vincent been thinking about crossing that over it to try and preserve some of the old school genetics or should I just let it be lost to time?

It’s only the old school older growers that appreciate it anyway lol.
i would take a cut if it was a good smoke!!

Anyone here had any success playing around with Hydrobuddy & being able to source the necessary salts in Oz?

Calcium Nitrate, Potassium Nitrate, MKP - eall easy to get in bulk. Trace elements can be sourced from Bunnings. It's the other salts in the DB that is the basis of my question.
I just get a commercial hydro mix with an NPK ratio that I like and included micros, then add cal nitrate and mag sulphate. Easy to source and works.

You can get the info from the webpages and input into hydrobuddy:

This DIY Lost Coast Plant Therapy recipe totally works! and the plants dont stress out with frequent sprayings! I've used it for almost 2 weeks now and can confirm the white fly populations as been reduced significantly and i can't find any caterpillers.

Thanks to @klx for the shout out!

For the Fungus Gnats in the top layer i used a 10-20mm layer of Neem i got in Bulk locally and topped with some bokashi as the neem sales guy said to make sure to cover it up. Everything has responded well.... Also a 20kg bag was 50 bucks where as OGS/Dr greenthumbs and what not make 1 kg 12 - 17bucks

Been running DIY nutes for years. Via hydrobuddy, here is the list of chemicals I use.

Potassium nitrate
Calcium nitrate
Mono potassium phosphate
Magnesium sulphate
Potassium sulphate or potassium citrate

I don't use any micro nutes, they are provided by the tap water.

Here you can get the chemicals in smaller amounts.

They also sell Campbell's special T, which is a base and could be used instead of potassium nitrate, while providing all micro nutrients.

And my current grow, running my homemade nutes.

Are you talking dry commercial mixes that you add extra dry salts to suit, or in "bottled" form? A combination of the two? What are you actually using?

Ideally, I want to be able to make up ready-made dry "packs" of A+B that I can dissolve into 2 x 20L drums in situ, enough to make 1000L at a time, rather than muck about carrying large amounts of extra water around (HEAVY!!).

When the time comes, I can then adjust/change from veg. to a flowering regime/mix.

What can I say - I'm an old fart & not as fit as I used to be :(

At 8.56 in this video they say adding a full bag of salt to your nutrients is a good tip. Anyone know or heard of this before? Salt, Straight salt!

Thanks mate, that single post is absolute fucking GOLD!

EDIT: Petandgarden is where I've been getting my bulk stuff from for a few years now on recommendation from a few folks on here.

All I need now is to get an analysis of my water source(s).

MANY thanks!

Yes dry nutes I just buy a 25kg bag and it lasts a long long time. You can use Campbells T like @auswolf said above or there are a bunch of others. I use Hydroflex T currently I really like it. The T is for tomato because we all grow tomatoes.

I am on UV filtered rain water so need the micros in the mix.

Haven't had the chance to do dry salts yet as I'm pretty stocked on liquids for a while. But when I do run out I'll be getting one of the following three to use with Cal nitrate and mag sulfate as needed.

Zap beautiful clean rain water. You ex city people are strange! Is all your house water zapped or just the grow?
Its all filtered because when there is a drought I can turn a valve and pump the dam into the header tank. For rain it's overkill but for a couple hundred bucks who give a fuck. Nothing strange about it. What you gonna tell me 5G is penetrating my brain next?

I'm new to growing. A kind, generous member gave me some seeds and this is what I have, so far. Two completely different cultivars, both hatched at the same time.

From the label that came on the seeds I know this as Blue Jag

But after playing with the seeds, labelling, storing etc., I found this one on the bench and have no idea what it is, but I like it. Looks like this one will finish before the BJ, which is my hope. I know it is a long shot, but any ideas as to what it could be? Fan leves are very thin and have no more than 3 fingers on any of them. Serrations were late to develop. Could it be Durban Poison as they were some that I was gifted?
