'Just finished 10 hours' work on my house build. This came on the radio as I was packing-up the tools:
'Dropped a 4yo cap about an hour ago & skanked around the build like a 20yo.

'Saw an ortho. surgeon yesterday & told her I wasn't going to stop building, despite the fracture in my leg.

It's Friday night.......

If that thing is anything like the crusader bug down under check your new growth and make sure it's not wilted. I had a family of these on a golden flower tree outside and just decimated any new growth. Hopefully he is the more harmless variety.

VERY slowly, as I'm doing all the work solo. The Mrs thought it'd be really easy to build a house, as she watches all the property-porn on TV where they have an unlimited budget & hordes of experienced tradies swarming all over the project, paid-for by advertisers. I have a running joke whenever anyone asks me how long until it's finished - "About an hour, give or take Ad-breaks".

I've got the steel frame almost complete & currently fixing ceiling battens. Once the frame is signed-off, I'm going to hand-over to the trades & accelerate to COO, so we can re-finance away from the NAB (pack of arseholes).

We're going to have two house-rules when it's done: No smoking anything inside the house & NO fucking TV in the main bedroom.......

oh man, i feel sorry for you dude, i found i really enjoyed the steel frame part sort of, but was never prepared for all the bullshit plastering/sanding, endless fking sanding, and you cant tell if you done right sometimes untill you prime it then you have to fix shit all the time that's rough, the cornice :wall: painting freking ceilings with two coats of primer, ahhhh

you think you in the shit now, i just got a bill for 4500 for electrical
the dude was here for 8 hours work

Since we started on this project, we've had 3 retrenchments, two broken legs, a broken collar-bone, an eartquake that screwed the frame (had to re-do a lot of work) Then there was a 2-year pandemic during-which we were both in essential services & had to go to work. We couldn't just stay home & collect job-keeper & work on the house.

We're lucky that the Mrs' cousin is a sparky who's agreed to do the work, so at least we'll get a good deal on all the electrical stuff.

Sorry, as soon as you said mud, I was reminded of this:):

'Dunno about Bursto, but I'm an Owner-Builder with absolutely ZERO knowledge or experience. I have to learn basic terminology & read a construction manual multiple times before I attempt do anything & just fudge my way through each step.

I'm pretty clueless on this stuff, but at least I'm making a fist at it.

It's a PITA, but as I keep saying to the Mrs "The next one will be easier......"

i try to be good on here, because i dont want to be banned like some
Hmm....I smell an element of fear here.
Lots of good people on here have been banned multiple times & come back multiple times & then moved away.
I have no says on that and expect to be banned as well ,b
so you know teacosy is rewerbs new sock account after sneaking back in
Thanks for pointing-out the bleeding obvious! Like it's some sort of secret or something???

I don't mind having playful banter with you, but you invariably just resort to a low-blow, which is rather disappointing & last-resort of people floundering for something to troll.

I thought you had turned a corner earlier, but that's obviously not the case.

Back on ignore...... Bye now!
