Dont get me wrong, leds are the shit. Thats why i use them. But i happen to think its better to teach a man to fish than to just give him a fish.

You have to crawl before you walk. Remember, doubling your space means doubling the ventilation, lighting, water, nutrients etc.

I'll let others on here guide you with regards to a space that size. I only run a 2x4 at the moment.

Best of luck.

For quick pain relief thc an for medical problems with back or anywhere else would cbd help at all?
cbd will help with inflammation etc but as lucky said won’t do dick for pain.
Ok yeh, my only issue with hid is heat and high electricity costs. Is it as bad as people claim??
You don’t save that much power with leds. The average cost of electricity is 20-30 cents per kilowatt which is fuck all. If your growing in the northern states your going to want ac with hid lights, especially through summer, in the southern states you’ll want heaters for leds especially in winter

I think I might run a couple grows using hps lights so I'm not investing so much into a grow with my lack of experience. I used soil in the past.
Youre not biting off more than you cam chew with a 4x8 its not a big space. But you will be if you dont set u it up properly ideally in a 4x8 if i were to use it id have 2x600w hps and a 315w cmh in the middle and if uou dont have an adequate aircon to cool that room in summer youll have problems. I have all my 600s in cool tube that get exhausted into my roof space if ypu can do something like that its ideal but if you cant setup adequate cooling then id suggest goin led but like they said theres alot to learn there. The power really isnt that bad especially if you only got 2-3 lights and all those leds are they not drawing just about the same wattage anyway? But compared to what you get out of a hid the electricity bill is nothing. And just fyi 'boosting' with t5s isnt gonna do shit and you need to stay away from thoughts like tgese and get equipment that doesnt need to be helped woth t5s that do f all. But ultimatly id get 2x 600w dont worry with a 315w cmh in the middle these 2x 600w would just cover the area you need put em in cool tubes could probably get away with no cool tubes for winter and go from there

for a newb in a 4x8. 2x600w hps on adjuta wing style reflectors. Coco, 20l pots and some basic a+b nutrient like canna (as well as ph test and change products), ac (for summer, winter you’ll probably get away with just venting the tent) and a 6-8 inch(min) extraction setup.

if you going to throw dimmers in dim The whole circuit at the driver. I’m a huge fan of the meanwell A or AB type drivers in the elg and hlg range. (Hlg are a little more efficient than the elgs but the elgs are often cheaper because they suck at 120v (which the us and a few other countries run on).

as for price that’d be up to you to figure out based on your costs and time invested. If your able to sell around the $150 mark you should make a killing of marketed right.
Cheers mate
I use the ELGs myself as U mentioned the efficiency gain from the HLGs is non existent on 120v

But I'm using Thomas research drivers on this project as it will be only a hair less efficient than an ELG on 220( so it's 93%) and those 120v ppl can live with %89
So it has 3 drivers on it

But I'll just have 2 knobs one for each K temp

$160 shoud be the final price

I do have room on the drivers to chuck a red star on each but I'm thinking to do a model with a red strip and 2 5000k later so I'll just use this form factor IMG_20200423_095321.jpgIMG_20200423_095332.jpgIMG_20200423_095342.jpg

Yep exactly. Only tjing is pot size is subjective to grow style i use 50l pots but would only have 2 plants in a 4x8

I think you mean on 240v the difference between the elg and hlg is non existent ;) I got what you meant though. The hlgs are popular in countries running 120v because of the huge efficiency jump over the elgs at 120v.

is there any reason for 2 dimmers. On a light that size I just don’t really see a reason for the extra potentiometer. Remember it might only be an extra $2-5 per light but in a run of 100 that’s significant, in a run of 1000 that’s some decent cash to save.

Just so so that I can tell the kids the spectrum is fully tunable

I'd have each colour on its own dimmer

So in this prototype it has the 2x3500k on one and the 1x5000k on the other

Pots are cheap enough I'm not worried about the cost increase of 30 cents per unit
