am new to this site but good to see other growers about have grown in the past but unfortunately all from bag seed with some wicked results though looking forward to this years crop. if anyone has any super tricks they use to get maximum buddage drop me a line always looking to maximize the harvest (and the high). tied my plant down last year but paranoia about getting ripped off hurt my chances of a big haul. like anyone once youve been ripped off your always suspicious. anyone with any good seed sites to get better genetics? am thinking about keeping a male and polinating a section of my best female to keep the strain going. any help appreciated. hope to end up with buds like rusty, nice buds buddy just gotta wait for the tricomes now ;)

Did someone say trichomes?
for my last outdoor grow i was worried about ripping it too early so i watched this wicked vid on youtube about a yank that harvests his trichomes when they all turn brown and crystalise (under a microscope) i followed his advice and i think it was the best grow ive ever done, had mates hassling me for a session all the time

Why is Australia so far behind place like California?

I love what is going on in California but i hate how even medical marijuana is not a political issue in this country.

With the Greens and independents negotiating power, it would be great if somebody raised marijuana as an issue, but in Australia its not even on the radar, except when its being mentioned as a "dangerous substance" and increase in penalties needed.

Do Australians not love marijuana as much as Californians?

At this rate Australia will be lucky to have strictly controlled medical marijuana within 20 years (that means you can't get it unless you have select severe illnesses and have tried other medicines etc, if you take it for anxiety or depression don't hold your breath).

We need more activism and organization in this country. We need an Australian Marc Emery.

I think we have people in this country that are willing to fight for Cannabis, but we need leadership and organization. I eagerly wait and hope for such a time in this country.

I mainly post this type of stuff in our group https://www.rollitup.org/groups/aussie-growers-club.html

but i thought i'd post here aswell to get better responses
coz no one seems to check the group much

Having said that, most the people I know that smoke marijuana are respectable people with jobs, that have to keep it secret due to the mentality against cannabis- most the people I know believe in legalization but would never risk attending a protest. They could lose their families / jobs / or even just have their reputation damaged.

i hear that man i smoke cause ive had arthritis since the age of 13 among other health probs and took all that crap they where prescribing me for yrs suffering from other probs created by the so called legal drugs etc then one day i found mj and well these days i dont even take the arthritis meds but man its hard to get consistant a grade smoke that does the job and the headaches that can go along with that so here i am trying to grow my own
you no the funny thing is most my drs are ok with it and tell me to keep doing it but as ya say due to the way its looked at by general society in our country no1 of standing is really willing to stand up and say mj has a place in the medical scene

Cotton. The whole murray darling basin wouldn't be in half the trouble it is now if hemp were legal and used instead of cotton but the good ole demonisation of marijuana caused that.

This country especially QLD is full of old people who are resistant to change and the government has always pandered to the highly religious and conservative population. Look at last time in QLD they tried to decriminalize marijuana possession the family first party (cocksucking cunts thank god fielding got the arse) ran a scare campaign saying that the party in question wished to legalise all aspects of marijuana be it possession and cultivation, and people listened it also doesn't help that anyone who tries to raise the issue is simply written off as a stoner.

Not to mentions not just the legislature hates the Idea the courts do too, judges hand out crazy fines and penalties to people just trying to help themselves, for fucks sake I read on Austlii in marijuana precedents about a north QLD couple who grew a few plants in their vege patch for personal use who got raped by the judge because they admitted ti shipping the stalks interstate to nimbin to be made into clothing. The laws to are something the piggies and judges don't want to lose the drug misuse act QLD 1995 pretty much eliminates the need for search warrants and allows pigs to do whatever the fuck they want with no reasonable suspicion (it is illegal under the act for a police officer to inform you of there reasonable suspicion) so why give up the power to search and seize anything they want, when they can look like they are doing something and pawn off your assets and seize all your money and expect you to defend yourself look at the fella in QLD who had all his assets seized and sold off like his drag cars for next to nothing and the profits go into the government coffers and he hadn't been convicted of anything yet. Innocent until proven guilty is no longer true at all the the government will rape your asshole and do whatever they want regardless of whether you do anything r not.

I intend to become an environmental economist for the government and I would really like to do up a report (likely will in my spare time) outlining the use of hemp as a crop and the minor environmental effects it has.

problems with people like marc emery is they like to make millions while they are doing the good work something that is more damaging then doing nothing it makes them seem less credible and more like they just want it easier to make millions.

I really am considering moving to canada Australia is going to shit and I am beginning to hate it we need a coup.

chunky good luck to you mate hopefully the government wake up to the potential of mj as you put it not just for "medicinal properties" but clothing. ive heard ford motor cars in america actually made car panels out of compressed mj and were amazed at the weight vs impact resistance. but im rambling its proven how long lasting and strong hemp clothing is so its mad to believe its a prohibited agricultural crop. i know a grower experimenting with oil sourced from mj seed for cooking oil so its properties still have room for research.
as for cotton well countries such as indonesia with lower labour costs and higher rainfull are better suited to growing cotton. the main problem in my opinion is the lack of rainwater tanks for residential housing im at the bottom end of the murray and i believe all states using the murray for drinking water and agriculture should be forced to look at other sources. on that note time to chop some of last years harvest and blaze up. oh and i think the greens are the only party with the balls to fight for legalization and for the murray and climate change so we will see what happens....

odlaw i use a coco and clay ball mix and wet the coco down first to allow for any subsidance in the coco fibre before transplanting might not be ideal but atleast with the bottom moist it wont suck away the water meant for the plant see how you go its pretty hard to overwater with coco apparently so i dont think you can go wrong

thanks steve
yeah i got icky in there i heard it was pretty hard to over water coco i was more worried that i would put her in there and then all the coco would sink and the pot would be half full lol but after opening the bag i see its alot like a dryish potty mix to work with
i mixed mine with perlite did a 80/20 mix

sound good. mr ford definately was out there apparently he was a big fan of adolf... good ideas but bit wacko

havent had much luck with hydro. have been too scared to get seeds online. out of the two grow's inside both have turned male or have been males to begin with. a mate of mine "helped me sex the plants" and has been wrong both times (wont trust him next time). outdoor ive had better luck and if you get a male it doesnt cost a fortune. but have been ripped off (about 6 plants ready to harvest) so its catch twentytwo. i only grow for personal use but am interested in breeding new strains i mainly have grown indica from bagseed but rats ate all the seeds ive been collecting :( bastards where did you guys get your seeds from? ive been thinking about getting fem seeds online but dont want the fed police knocking in my brand new front door...

Yeah they make DVD cases out of it among other things it can be used more effectively for biofuels and other consumables like plastic without affecting the worlds food supply like Bio fuel does. Incidentally I watched a small doco on south africa experimenting with hempseed as a food source it is currently illegal there. Allowing hemp to be used as the primary food source for african nations instead of yams will be a huge step forward for the continent especially as co2 level increase and increase the yams toxicity, ~ 70% of sub saharan africa have AIDS most from malnutrition not the HIV virus (apparently) so just starting there would allow for a huge step forward for mankind.

Most of the worlds greastest problems could be easily alleviated with the cultivation of hemp, thank god for America saviour of the world destroying every opportunity to do so, it provide food clothing and a capability to create a cash crop (legally) from farming for bio consumables grain stocks and clothing.

look what happened to Bangladesh as a case in point

all i would suggest is find a uk based company more likely to make it to much mail from uk to aus to check it all lol but if its from netherlands amstradam then more chance they gunna check it
and dont go mad just buy a small amount at a time and if ya got a friend or sumtin that dont smoke but wouldnt mind ya getting seeds sent there use there address or atleast a diff address to where u growing to play it safe
and email who ever you decide to get seeds from ask a couple questions to see how quick they are to respond to customers if it takes awhile i wouldnt use em lol

Not going into the debate about decrim and even legalizing weed as it pisses me off at how pussy Aus seems to be in that respect. Meh once the baby boomers are gone i see big change :)

Anyway just a heads up on the coco....i think(?) its the other way around actually. Its VERY easy to overwater with coco as it just has such an amazing potential to store water. If you care to look through the last 100 or so pages (yes i know i wouldnt either) you will see quite a few members said its easy to overwater. That said, i didnt seem to have trouble with it and i used the "flood till runoff" method for majority of the plants life :) I think the main problem you should look out for is that the moisture is held for quite some time so watering intervals are longer. HOWEVER this is just my 2 cents based on my last grow where i used it so i might of just been lucky :)

EDIT: all these posts on seeds and importing is a little upsetting to hear. Importing seeds means potentially importing disease into our otherwise fenced off country. I know its easier said than done but i would love to see an Aussie seed bank or seed exchange. I don't know about other members but i would be more than happy to exchange seeds (no money involved just simply barter x for y as then in my eyes its not dealing etc) once they have established themself as an actual grower and not just the piggies.

P.s In no way is that spill on seeds targeted at anyone. I too have asked for seed bank sites with the thought of importing and still thinking of getting some if i can't find the strain i want here. It just shits me that because of the demonisation of it you can't simply send it through customs where they could perform the right tests to make sure they disease free. I would gladly pay a lil extra knowing i havnt imported Virus "x".
