my bill is almost $900 this q.....
Thankz for the linkz guys..... I know its risky investing in something that is going to last 15 years but that every year massive advances are made in the technology...kinda like tvs I guess....no,,,maybe not

I feel like they are getting close with the 60 degree angle for the bulbs in some of the more serious lights.... and they are getting the balance right on the spectrum thing so its an all in one light...one thing I love about hps ... uuumm,,,,, I also Love the yields I get on my hps ...now I'm talking myself out again...

on another note.... I'm getting X-cited about my girls..... I think I have accidentally stumbled on a way of doubled your yield in just 4 extra weeks ....if only I had that long

maybe I'm a little paranoid........about the helicopters and my large elec billz and the carbon cops coming over one day,,but I have heard they work well for half the juice/heat etc.....
I would like to get a discussion going and I realize that is hard because of all our complete lack of experience with these lights.... catch 22

Hey Jats, I am running about 3000 extra watts in my shed on top of my house...Don't worry about it honey... Trust me, I've seen some big systems walk out the door at the hydroshop here, we are small time compared to big commercial growers... How much wattage are you running just for your grows...???

I also pay a little bit off my electricity bill each week, just like $20 - $30 so when I do get my bill, I don't feel like I am being kicked in the face... Remember the power companies love growers who pay their bills.... They are more likely to give over your details if you are stealing the power or not paying for it....

LED's well I understand your interest in them, and the price point they are at is a big factor in the purchase....I have seen some youtube vids on the very lights you mentioned and I have to say I was impressed, but they don't have anything on my 2000watts of HPS...lol... You'll definately feel the yeild difference at the end of the day.. You wont get the big forearm shaped buds that weigh 90grams wet with LED's... I am yet to see that...

Don't let the popo's influence ruin your growing experience... We all have pangs of paranoia, but if they were serious about using helicopters, they would be using them in police chases....Four people were killed In Queanbeyan NSW the other week due to a police chase... A 33 year old male, a 28 year old woman and a 4 month old baby....They were hit by the guy on the run, he died later too...If a helicopter was used, maybe fatalities could have been avoided... Most people know you can't outrun a helicopter but when a car chases you, you might just have a chance...That's why crooks run....

Also, we'd be hearing about a lot more indoor busts if the helicopters were allowed to do what they are capable of... I've sat back and thought about how much pot it takes to keep this country running each week... And its staggering. ... We can't import shit cause of our customs so most of our stuff is locally grown....There are a lot of people out there, getting away with it...That big bust in Yass, didn't even put a dint in the market....lol....
But yeah, how much wattage are you using for your grows...?????

carbon guilt as in sad for the environment?..
ive found peace with this issue myself already.. i can see wots being sucked out of the earth everyday, look at the carpark at ur local shops and x that many cars by 10000000000000000000... i see 20,30,40,50000 watt grows and thats on lights alone.. i used to work in the mines in QLD, its incomprehensible the amount of coal being sucked out of the guts of old girl earth, i dont know why she hasnt imploded yet,,..
but to make a point, woteva i do aint a bleep on the carbon radar, this short time im on the earth is for looking after me and mine, its pointless to worry about the world fucking over wen no-one else does and ill be long gone b4 it matters

Jats - if it makes ya feel any better we've had 800 bills for the q pre growing lol i blame the kids?? but hubby has become super at switching everything off that doesn't need to be on and at the plug etc, i think our growing now uses approx the same as pre power saver hubby lol and yeah ive noticed heaps more air traffick lately, not all helli's tho = lots of small planes, hubby thinks they've adjusted a flight plan or something haha, we do have a couple of those small airports dotted around us eh

i had my first night in a week last night that i wasn't throwing up during the night!!! YAY, i got up briefly and felt a bit ill but i didn't. yay.

Ah - well, me seriously over budget on this little growspace of mine. Have been thinking about cooling, and trying to come up with money saving way of doing that. Was thinking about couple of mini fans aimed at bulb, with a vent above grow room (its the hatch for crawling into roof - either totally open with wire mesh, or with the hatch lifted up a few inches on a frame with mesh at the sides) just over the bulbs, and 2-3 of mini fans coming up from among the plants. What d'ya reckon...fire for sure, or might hold me a for 4-6 weeks until I can afford something better?

I was interested in Kmoos DWC she's been setting up, reckon I'll give that a go when I'm ready to try something new n have $$.

u dont need ur grow area sorted at this early growing stage bcos u can pretty much start bem up anywhere u can fit ur pots.. but u should start to prepare it, so wot grow space are u working with? and we'll talk ventilation

Medium cupboard, reckon 8-10 plants, very tall and possibility of making two levels (when more $$, not to start) - one for fluoro seedling/clones and one for veg/flowering. Would like to separate veg n flowering but cannot, so basically going to have to start all plants at same time unless autoflowers...which is why me getting at least one autoflower when I can buy seeds. You tried autos?

Can't really do much structural messing around because renting, but was thinking of taking off and storing the door, and making a substitute with in/out fans....when $$ up a bit.

I do have a spare room but I wanna learn about the plant more before getting THAT ambitious, and anyhows, just for personal use and personal stash, so happy to take my time to build stash up.

What do ya reckon? Advice/comments serisouly welcome, I google and search the forums here (hey, anyone tried Uncle Bens topping thing to get 2 or 4 main colas? will try that 2nd or 3rd grow) but there is so much conflicting info that it seems better to learn from a small group of experienced people like youse here and see how I go. The info out there is too overwhelming and I don't have enough experience to judge its worth...hence my many questions on this forum.

Glad you're getting better. Spewing is NO FUN. I got the doctor out once, gave me anti-nausea stuff n he left...2 minutes after, the stuff he gave me made me WORSE! I like the looks of seedboutique, but...I was going to buy from two places and hope at least one order came through, but cannot do that now because budget blown, OMG the plane has crashed into the mountain, so can only place one tiny order instead of two bigger ones. Like look of Herbies, but they send signed for. Signed for! What the fuck? Should that put me off? and they put an invoice in parcel. Not comfortable with this. But want mick n mix, and have developed a hatred for attitude since they're rude and uncommunicative, and pick n mix (my original 1st choice) told me they wont deliver here anymore, so....it's herbies and maybe the seeds I really have my heart set on, or seedboutique and something just ok that I'd choose based only on lowest price. Unless anyone knows anywhere else?

Um i dont really understand ur venting/space description..having some fans blowing heat off an exposed bulb is good.. as for venting/temps, ideally keeping temps at 25 is it, umm fresh intake air can be via a vent/open door or hatch etc but u need an exhaust fan getting rid of the hot used air,.. if the ambient intake air is nowhere near 25, ull need a small ac or heater (my room is totally sealed cos i run co2 tank, higher temps)

topping-try out all forms of growing on ur preferred strain and see which performs the best..
