Sorry to butt in on your conversation; it's just I can't help overhearing, and it's interesting! I'm planning a set up, and so far have been concentrating on getting lights and germination stuff. Time to think of what to do with the plants when they're grown a little.

How would your set-up work? The plant is in a net-pot in a hole in the bucket lid...what's in the bucket - water with fertilizers? The roots grow out of the bottom of the pot, into nutrients....? Each pot with an airstone or two....how does the air pump figure in the set-up?

Hope I haven't asked anything too dumb. So far only considered growing in coir or pellets, but your way might work out cheaper. And I've only ever grown veg and stuff in the ground outside, never done indoor growing before.

Cheers.

This work shit is a conspiracy if u think about it.

Uh-huh, we're raised to be slaves to acquisition and consumption. Can't cope without a wage, and most people barely get by on what they earn. Meanwhile, the bosses get richer - the rich/poor divide is growing in many countries. If the inequality in distribution of profits, the virtual impossibility of creating a financially viable alternative way of life, and the stigma/negative stereotypes attached to people who try DON'T add up to forced labour for the benefit of others, ie, slavery...well, I'll be a pilchard....

:-(

its easy the bucket just holds water with the nutes and airpump provides the oxgygen..your better off starting your seeds in the dwc , grab some rockwool and just keep watering until the roots hit the water

Thanks, smallclosetgrower. I think I'll do that.

Do I need to do anything to make sure the roots don't rot? Would a mesh pot like this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NET-MESH-POT-80MM-X-75MM-10-PACK-HYDROPONIC_W0QQitemZ220489247653QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Seed_Starting_Hydroponics?hash=item33562eeba5 be suitable? Size?

Also, what is dwc?!

If I get a pump with dual outlets, then I can use that for just 2 pots? Or can I use a long pipe and attach more than one air stone to each outlet?

How do I figure out nutrient amounts per litre of water in my buckets?

Cheers

deep water culture - growing in water!!! lol

the nutrients tell you on the packaging how much to add per litre

if u buy a pump with only 2 outlets i would only use 2 stones 1 per outlout, and dont make the mistake i did by connecting the 2 tubes to make 1 just for the entry point thru the hole on the bucket ..u will lose alot of power. as long as u keep the light out and have movement in the water u shouldnt get root rot, i also think it helps to add some type of enzyme in your water , for example hygrozyme/cannazyme

Hey, I bought skins a while ago. Thought the first season was pretty cool, the second a little less cool an the third (the effie one) pretty shite. It seemed to me that the early ones were kind of 'real' in the use of drugs, relationships etc. but by the later episodes esp. season 3 they are just trying to be extreme and shocking. If you like skins download some Shameless! Best show ever! Frank Gallager is my hero. I was supposedly made by the same people (It came before skins) and it still rocks after 6 seasons.
