i got some rusting on my fan leaves that looks pretty similar to the pic here..
its basically like thin strips of rusting that occours between the viens on fan leaves..
one plant is starting to get outta hand now, some others are just showing faint signs

Edit: Its cool yo, my ph pen was out .3, i was locking mag out!

Though Mg deficiency is rare in reality and most "symptoms" are caused by other factors such over feeding, over watering etc,

BUT that is a classic example !

Fixed it yet Street`s?

hey ez.. yeh mate i just ran some 6.0 thru the girls.. lke u said classic mag lockout..
need to keep that ph pen calibrated..

What happened was i was getting high pH run-off readings so i dropped my pH drastically to try to balance the run-off, THEN i was to find out that pH run-off in coco is moot point, it only matters what goes in.. So dropping the pH so much was the beginning of my trouble..
Then i was watering pH 5.8, which was really 5.5 cos my pen was bunk so mag was getting locked out still!, and the shit hit the pan:bigjoint:
Add to that lazy habits like not standing my water out regularly and not letting my nute mix settle and double checking..
Like Alf Stewart would say 'let that be a lesson to ya, ya flamin' mongrel:cuss:

yeah Mg def can show it self in a number of ways.

it usually shows up with a Calcium deficency if its from soft water... or if its by itself its like you said, a ph lock out, or a nute lock out....

and yeah a couple of frozn juice and softdrink bottles do well.... havent had to use them 2 much.... but im about to use a couple today... i think my camera is up and running..... ill show you some comparison pics a bit later... anyone not using DWC/bubbles should start.... especially after they see some pics..... the only problem i have is not being ale to riase the lights far enough.... i need to do it twice a day... as you will be able to see.... they keep getting burnt....

:lol: - yer trust your coco ! It is one of the best soilless buffers on the market, and as you said it will do the work as long as what your introducing to the system is on par. Lazy Habits are the fault of us all, we are stoners ! lol :bigjoint:

well i had a marine chiller lined up on ebay last nite, fuckin thing was worth 1200bucks and they started it at 60 bucks, anyways im sitting smack in front of the computer finger on the trigger, eating pizza i was..
anyways off i go with the fairies, by the time i snapped back to reality the fucking auction was finished!! and the chiller went for 160-something dollars! i was prepared to drop 3hundgies but ah well.. cos it was a big one i think it was a 500watter, real juice sucker so im not real sad, prefer one of the little 1/16HP models cos its only for my aerocloner
BUT i couldve used it to make a multi-res chiller as designed by SOG, which uses aluminium cannisters placed in each res daisy chained using hose between all the res's and connected to the one chiller.. (perfect cos im going to be running 4 res's)

anyways, like eza sed, typical stoner lol..missed the auction in front of my face

yeah... ebays great when u pay attension....ive missed so many good swords and shit because i get bored and go play a game or somehing....

i would love a res cooler... but yeah they arnt cheap... nor are they cheap to run.... im thinking of getting a 5 res, DWC going(4 grow buckets and an external res) if i do that.... i might get a chiller.. but unless ive got something that big.... i dont think i woud bother... i find it just as easy to grow outside when its hot and inside when its cold.... keeping mothers alive all yr will be a challenge.... but ohwell....


also next year im gunna try some "outdoor hydro".... dwc out the back with some waterproof and heat resistant shit around it....

last time i saw outdoor hydro i was blown away.... 5x3m aero set ups built partialy into the ground... best looking outdoors ive ever seen.... and the biggest hydro plants id ever seen...


fuck our australian sun works welll......

funny u mention that bra cos ive built the stinkbud aero/nft system(6 channels 1500mm long, 7 plant sites per rail, 42 sites total, rails are 100mmx50mm pvc down pipe from bunnings) fully working and operational with res's pumps etc but im changing to ebb and flow tables instead.. ah so i was gonna sell my stinkbud setup but now im thinkin of running veggies outside, like lettuces etc..

Good question.
The water is under constant uv light treatment, to kill any and all bacteria or algae. The roots don't mind the light as long as the water is clean and the temps controlled. I even use fresh river water instead of RO, I recommend throwing a uv light stick in your res. I add back and only need change out my water after about 3 weeks. It could go longer but the plants like the fresh change out.

On another note. I grew 3 racks of tomatoes in 100+ temps outside in open air NFT. Grew 80 tomatoes clones to 2 feet in 2 weeks, no uv high water temps and it was the algae that protected the roots from the hot sun. As long as the proper bacteria are alive in the algae It did not seem to slow growth only protect the roots from the hot sun. Just Some food for thought

There is another low-tech method that I have seen used, take two plastic bottles (two liter soda bottles work well) and fill each about 3/4 full with water and put them in your freezer. Every day (or as needed) simply put one of the frozen bottles into the reservoir of your hydroponic unit and put the warm bottle in the freezer to re-freeze.It's kind of a pain to remember to swap out the bottles every day, but it is a much cheaper way to cool your nutrient solution.
