I only voted yes because my wife used small amounts of pot to control the nausea so she could eat the first few weeks... after that nothing at all, and she had no need for it with the second pregnancy. So I suppose I'm cool with it for sensible reasons, not just because she wants a buzz.

I'm not in here for a debate on the subject because I don't fully stand by either side. I was simply presenting my opinion, not my case. I would choose not to.

If you want to turn this into a debate, you can create a new thread in the Politics section and I can just play devil's advocate or me and you can switch positions and debate the issue. You would need to give me several hours so I can read a handful of the studies out right now - I have 4 bookmarked that I am currently reading. Two of yours and two that came to different conclusions. If you're up for it, post a new thread in the Politics forum.

also anecdotally, i know a number of women that smoked during their first trimester in order to be able to function through bad morning sickness. pot was the only thing that got rid of the nausea. also i have heard of women smoking pot during the birth instead of having an epidural.
Out of my four pregnancies I only had an epidural with the last, because I HAD NO CHOICE (c-section). My first and third I had Demerol and number 2, was all natural, baby! Too late to do anything but push by the time we got to the hospital! But, I always stopped smoking pot and drinking during my pregnancies.

lol sorry for hijacking the thread for a few pages on bullshit..

i know what irieirie is saying and i know where he's coming from. if i switched positions with him, i can debate his side just as i can debate the other side. my point was....ah i already said it a bunch of times...anyway, that's all it was my opinion. i wasn't stating it as fact or presenting it as my case, but posting it as a choice in my life for my family. and if it was a legitimate debate taking place, both me and irie would have to do a lot more than posting a few research studies. we'd have to get down to the nitty gritty.

Is that supposed to mean you are also against a woman getting Demerol during labor? That shit is way mind altering!
Now you are getting into natural birth vs. un natural (helped with drugs) birth. Some women choose to birth naturally, some do not.

I could find this to be an exception also :).

It would be better than getting loaded up with pills during a pregnancy :)

im just saying it probably wouldnt hurt to takea toke once a month or less, or maybe an alternative to morning sickness,

as a late 80s child there wasnt alot of knowledge about pregnancy and smoking cigs back in the day my moms doctor told her to
smoke menthols insted and maybe i was lucky but i was born without asthma or other respiratory problems
A MAN cannot possibly understand morning sickness! And this guy doesn't even think his 'woman' should be allowed to have a Whopper and soda for lunch!

What the hell is your problem?

I never said I could understand morning sickness during pregnancy, or any other problems women may have during pregnancy. There's no way I'd be able to even fathom.

It's not that I wouldn't allow my woman...I'm sorry I mean the wife, to have junk food. My...I'm sorry, The hypothetical wife can do as she pleases; however, I would not marry a woman that does not take care of her body or make healthy decisions, hence eating junk food would have nothing to do with my "allowing" her to do so or not.

Let me reiterate: the original poster asked for our opinions on marijuana smoking during pregnancy and if we would do it. I presented my opinion. I'm sorry that my hypothetical queen (or King if you prefer) is not here at work by my side to discuss this issue before I post it on the forums.

Aspartame is ONLY in diet soda. I do not drink or allow my kids to drink diet soda! Aspatame is a poison. Normal soda is FINE unless you drink massive amounts, which I ALSO do not do nor allow my kids to do. If a woman is preggo and has a craving for a pepsi, again, I say, NO MAN has the right to tell me I can't. After you have carried, given birth to and nursed a baby, THEN tell me I can't have fast food or a soda for a year and a half!!
