Are these ready to click to 12's?

Please give input here, third grow and trying to do it right this time. Plants are healthy as can be, last time had a lot of riff raff so I went a little agro on them. I cannot find anywhere how many nodes down they are supposed to be in the begining of bloom. Have the canabis bible and it does not talk about that either. Have plenty of light and two more standing by, new bulbs and everything is well but am I supposed to cut off the nodes further down that are shooting up? I dont have many on each top right now. Check out the pics and please let me know you think. The person who taught me all of this really didnt know in the end have have learned a lot but still unclear on this area. Dropped the lights to make things stack, figured that one out a while ago.

IMO it doesnt matter how big they are when you flip... whats important is that there is a full canopy covering the entire footprint of the lights.. if your canopy is full you will get max yield. That can take lots of little plants or a few big ones .. its all up to you and your veg time. Lets say this time that once they stretch your canopy is still not as full as you would like.. then veg a little longer next time. Every strain is different.. some strains double or more at the 12/12 flip.. some dont really stretch at all. So learn your strains.. that way you can estimate how full your room will be once they start going into budding which is normally 5-15 days after the light flip ... Good Luck.

Thank you very much, really appreciate the time you took for the reply. When they start to bud is that where the majority of the nodes that bloom come from? I dont know how many to leave from the top of the flower down. I left them before and they stretch up the side of the bud and dont really fill in, is that having to do with my lights being too high? You can see in my pics that I have about 3 to 4 flower points from the top of the flower down. is that how many I should have or did I trim too much and should have that whole branch filled up with them? Thanks and I hope this makes sense,

it looks like it should work just fine with how many you have left on, if anything taking more off the bottom is better then not taking them, they normally dont produce much anyway, i would say you could either put them in flowering or wait a week or two if you want bigger plants/yeild

and either way there might not be that much foliage there but those ladies look supercropped as hell . i think there gonna be grt . gL

I am asking how many nodes there are supposed to be. I had a bunch of bull shit last time bc I left too much bs at the bottom, I know I can click them I am asking do I need to trim more. Read the comments I made again,

definitely trimmed enough. i usually trim them first day of flower then a couple weeks in after the stretch is done ill hit them one more time. i also pull any big fan leaves that are cockblocking side shoots but thats a touchy subject with people. You gota start somewhere, dont pay attention to the haters

Real quick question, should my lights be as close as they can when in bloom in the begining and through it? I know you need to be careful to not burn as they grow fast but should my light heighth be as close as can be? ie a foot to 18 inches?

Thanks in advance, I literally have nobody where I live who I know grows. So dont really have anyone else to ask

u dont have glass on those hoods? if u do bring them as close as possible. if not u can bring them as close to where u can put ur hand on the canopy and it doesnt bother u it wont bother ur plants..as long as u can keep heat down bring em as close as u can i wud say..unless someone says differely

if you dont have a light meter... its hard to say. it all depends on your hood, do you have the glass on? i usually dont throw them close right away.. if its first time they are seeing hps and you are going 1kwatts i would keep about 24-30 inches the first week. after that i usually go about 16-18inches from glass, that gives me the best lumens to match my foot pattern.

Yes have glass on all hoods and sufficient cooling for them. I moved all of them about 18 inches and will just keep them there through blooming and inch up as needed it sounds like. As far as a light meter are they expensive? What do you have for one?

I put them on HPS about a week ago and are clicking them over to 12's tonight. Thanks again, I will let you know how it turns out in a couple months. Really appreciate the advise

i dont have a light meter, i borrowed a friends. Im not too sure how much they cost sorry. if your running a 4x4 pattern 18 inches is pretty standard. looking forward to seeing how they do, good luck!

Looking great for your third grow man. I wouldn't trim any more than that. There's no set rule about how many nodes there should be or anything when you flower.

However, I read before that a good rule of thumb when taking fresh cuttings from a plant is not to take off more than a third of the node on the plant if you want to avoid stress. I would probably apply this to lollipopping before your flip as well, as you don't want to cause the plants stress right before flipping them to 12 12. I was just talking to a guy actually that got some male flowers on a few lower branches from doing a lot of trimming down there.
