Are these plants Hermies?

Hey all,

I am a new grower and am royaly confused :-?

I have just started the flowering stage, after 1 month of veg. My plants have been flowering for 6 days now but 4 out of the 5 plants showed their sex prior to the flowering stage.

I think that 3 of my plants may be hermie's. Just thought I would note, I grew these plants from bag seed.

Also, the little balls that I am seeing on these plants are just by themselves, not in bunches. They are also on the lower branches.

Here are the pics...

The first 2 pics are of "Plant 1"
The next 2 pics are of "Plant 2"
And the last pic is of "Plant 3"

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

on pic 1 i think i see some hairs (female flower-cluster), then right underneath is some balls (male flowers) tell me if this is what u see too. if so then yeah plant 1 is hermie. plant 2 is clearly hermie, as you can see the female hairs in pic 3 and then male balls in pic 4. im not so sure about plant 3 tho if you could get more pics of it maybe i could tell. but yeah that sucks plant 1 and 2 went hermie on you.

Hey guys,

Thank-you both for your replies!

"on pic 1 i think i see some hairs (female flower-cluster), then right underneath is some balls (male flowers) tell me if this is what u see too."

Yeah, that is exactly what I am seeing.

I am pretty certain all 3 are hermies. What should I do with them? Can I just pick the "balls" off and keep growing them or do I need to just let them go?

The thing with bag seed is that 80-90 percent of them will be male or hermie, atleast that is what i've gotten in my past experience growing bag seed. Spend a little money on beans and you won't waste so much time growing hermies.

im not sure what u can do with hermies. if anything just isolate them and get some "hermie weed" lol. dont use the seeds tho, they will be hermie too.

IF you have fun growing it it's not a waste of time.

Well if it's a male it is.

In my short time growing, I love it so far.

I actually just ordered me some seeds (White Widow & White Berry) so hopefully those do a lot better. To be honest, I tried a grow with these bag seeds last year, and the EXACT same thing happened. They showed that they were female, and me being very inexperienced just let them go. Eventually, all the bud basically turned to seed. So, I do have 100's of seeds but it seems that they are all Hermie. Or is this just a bad coincidence?

Okay, well that answers my next question! I have read mixed reviews on growing from hermie seeds. Some people say they will be 100% female and others say that you will keep getting hermies. Hmm..... Apparently I have a whole sh!t load of hermie seeds, haha.

Yeah your seeds self pollinated. The seeds are pretty much worthless except to cloud up the gene pool.

The only good hermie plants are stage one hermies which are created with fem pollen. They are hermies, but mostly female. These are called Fem. seeds. They cannot be bred again or they will be stage two hermies and it will continue until they are full herms if you continue to breed with fem. or hermie seeds.

the main problemwith bag seed is this,

Most growers remove all males from their growing area. The thing is they do not always catch plants with male and female traits so they are left to pollinate and what develops is seeds that are pollenated by the hermies which create hermie seeds. When you grow them they will all be hermie and will seed up and self pollinate.

These self pollinating plants narrow the genetic structure of cannabis.

what is fem pollen, does it even exist. i mean how can a male flower make female pollen.

Fem. pollen is created by allowing a fully mature as in a female plant that is fully flowered go past its prime. You must allow the plant to live three to four weeks past being fully mature and it will under stress from not being pollinated develop male traits.

They are called banannas. They are male pollen sacks that develop on the buds of a fully matured female plant past its matuirty. The plant will basically develop these traits to try and pollinate itself to seed up.

You collect these pollen sacks and use them t pollinate a femae that is 2-3 weeks into flower. This is fem. pollen.

The cannabis plants only meaning in life is to breed and it will try and find away.

I have spent many hours researching and creating fem seeds are not as hard as seed companies make it seem. They really shouldn't charge as much as they do for them.

If you mean with Indica yeah sometime around there all strains are different. Just a reminder you can only do it with pure females.
