No it's a combination of genetics and the conditions there made some are big some are small however you can influence it with how much/and intense the light there under the more intense the more dense the buds will be hence the seeds are forming under more pressure so might be smaller or the inverse under less light anyway the biggest seeds are traditionally from stuff that was used for food as for stripes mottling markings or lack of again that is genetic they varyI remember when I used to get weed with a few seeds. Maybe 10+ years ago. It seems like the seeds were Much bigger than any seeds I have ever "bought". I also remember they had dark stripes.
Anyone else have this experience?
Typical of when kids think things are bigger when they are younger. When you get older you look back and realize it wasn’t as big as you remember.I remember when I used to get weed with a few seeds. I will say, I ordered a whole bunch of haze seeds that came from Spain, and them seeds were THICCTypical of when kids think things are bigger when they are younger. When you get older you look back and realize it wasn’t as big as you remember.
home growers wait until the seed reaches its max.selles wait until it reaches its min thats why you found huge seeds in your bags but bought small seeds.I remember when I used to get weed with a few seeds. Minus odd exceptions yeah Ime sativa seeds tend to be a bit smaller Vs indica I agree but I have had huge Thai seeds so there are exceptions to the rule as with all things when you pollinate matters too the Indians and some Thai folk too I think that they traditionally did the "elephant seed" method as they call it they pollinate real early kill all the males only get a few seeds and only grow out from the best plants of the bunch year after year so it lends credence to the pollination timing bit u mention mate cos they are bigger seeds that wayIf I use co2 they seem to be a bit bigger and thicker. When you hit them with pollen and how much you use also seems to affect the size and thickness. Also sativas generally seem smaller and indicas seem to be a bit larger.
I think the difference is nowadays most breeders are running seeds indoors for quality (some, but the ones with no size or color are most likely picked early for cash), but back in the day most the stuff was outdoor. Also, back then growers actually had to let the crop actually finish or nobody would buy a premature product, now everyone is so impatient they pull plants before they are even ready lol.I remember when I used to get weed with a few seeds. Indoors under high powered lights seeds are definitely under more pressure as there forming as the buds are stacking so dense so this can be a factor as well as genetics for sureI think the difference is nowadays most breeders are running seeds indoors for quality (some, but the ones with no size or color are most likely picked early for cash), but back in the day most the stuff was outdoor. In my experience in the past I think sativa or sativa leaning hybrids seemed to be the ones with smaller seeds, and indica seeds were fatter.
I remember around 2005 I was on a farm in California helping these dudes trim their crop and their was about 15 of us all trimming around a long table, and it was a bunch of different strains all grown outdoors in the California sun and the buds were top notch but here and there one of the trimmers would find a seed and these seeds were HUGE! I mean like the size of a seed when you are eating sunflower seeds and you find the fattest oddest one in the bag, or even as big as a marble! The dude was like "HOLY SHIT BRO! LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THIS SEED! Anybody want the seed?" And this other guy was like "HELL YA! A seed that BIG! That's gotta be a monster in there!!!"
I agree. I feel also the look and size of the seed is also factored in by the strains of the cross. I don't know if it is accurate or not but just from my personal experience it seems like strain causes seed size in some degree because I had one feminized seed from Delicious seeds and it was small, I had seeds of Thug Pug Garlic Breath and the seeds were big and also the Garlic Breath seeds have a weird lumpy round ball shape rather than the typical tear drop shape and a lot of the Garlic Breath seeds give twins consistently, once I crossed a male Garlic Breath to the feminized Unknown Kush by Delicious seeds, the new seeds were a size in between, not small, but not large and they looked like the Garlic Breath seeds, but they had the tiger stripe pattern like the Unknown Kush and the new seeds also had the Garlic Breath shape and also the new seeds took on the twins characteristics so some seeds look double and even the normal ones can give you a two piece combo lol...It has been our experience that regular seeds that are comprised of both male and female seeds are larger than their feminized and / or autoflowering varieties. So if you are used to the seeds of the 90's or 2000's when many varieties only came in regular then yes the seeds of 2024 are smaller. Technology has brought so many changes to seed production and part of that progress has reduced the size of the seed produced when in feminized and / or autoflowering varieties. Strains produce different sizes and colors and breeders cannot control these natures choice factors. We also find that small seeds are just as viable as larger seeds if you keep an open mind about it and germinate with care before planting.
Thanks kind seed co dude.
