Are Gang Members Using Military Training?

my experience in the army is obviously different from yours. I spent 2 years years wadind through a jungle, trying to stay alive. I never really came in contact with those smart people you speak of. They didn't hang out in the jungle with us, they were usually hanging out in saigon partying. So, I wasn't really burdened with the yes sir and no sir bullshit, the only thing I had to worry about were those bastards in those black pajamas and ak-47's trying to kill me.:finger:
Very different military from between Vietnam and now.

Which is probably why the fact that there is gang-related activity (even if it is absurdly low) in the military is considered news worthy.

why dont you go take you a little tour in the army then.see how it is..i see you know all about the army.
a very small percentage of the army would have any association with a gang.
and once that gang member gets through basic training he is a member of a new gang.
called the US ARMY.he will do what he is told.exactly what he is told.or be punished severely .
to include not sleeping, or eating.just for example.
you ever have someone tell you .if you fall asleep on post you will receive a article fifteen.
then keep you awake for a week .
some of the smartest men ive ever met in my life were in the military or ex military.
many of them are high achievers.i doubt if you know what that is .

Stop acting like you know it all and your better then everyone else....

Small percentage is right. I dont think anyone is claiming that gangs are taking over the military...

many of them are high achievers.i doubt if you know what that is .
And what makes you think your better, or more of a "high achiever" then anyone else around here?

For all you know you could be the LEAST Successful person on this thread... Im not saying you are, but stop acting all high and mighty. You or anyone in the US military is no better then some kid on the street. The ONLY difference is you joined and that kid didnt. Some people might even argue they were Smarter for not joining the military.

The gang members don't worry me as much as the fact that many of these young folks who are engaging in house to house urban combat, with varying degrees of mental distress, will likely be able to walk on as the cops of the future.

You are so right. The cops look for ex-military guys, and Combat duty ranks high on the list, may get you a spot on the vaunted SWAT team. SWAT= special weapons and tactics unit, should be spelled the same but with the "T" standing for "terrorism of citizens"

I'd take it with a grain of salt. Other than my dad (MOS 112.3), only a few other Vietnam-era aged guys I've talked allege to be anything but ex-special forces, usually the 5th. In the future that will be more believable, as they seem to have seriously lowered the standards for snake eating. Even myself, who didn't last three weeks(dirty urine), was hounded to attend BUDS in the early 90's.

i guess all the medals on the wall and the citations along with the challenge coin were all counterfeit ..lol..
i wonder if the large golden medal on the wall presented by the german chancellor and the joint cheifs of staff medal under casper wineburger..all fake..i know who i am talking to ..i know a fake when i see one and meet one.
men who are drafted are a different breed from men who are warriors.
a draft in my humble opinion is always a good idea.it weeds the weak and the losers out of our society.
these men were not born warriors or patriots anyway.they have been MADE to do their duty..what a bunch of ass holes.

I love how you go from "humble opinion" to "what a bunch of assholes" in the same damn paragraph.

So you really think everyone who is drafted is just an asshole? Well here's what I think. Fuck You You Uptight Piece of Shit! People were drafted and gave up their fucking lives so assholes like YOU can sit on your ass and act like a big man on the internet....

Grow the fuck up. Get over yourself.

With comments like this WHO THE FUCK do you think you are? What makes you so great?

Your not a warrior. Your a small minded piece of shit. You think your a patriot? You think your born a patriot? You dont even know the meaning of the word Patriot......

Patriot
1. One who loves and defends his or her country.

Please explain to me how you could either express love OR defend your country when you were born? You cant be born any more of a patriot then I can....

So on to my next point. What makes you think signing up for the military makes you any more of a patriot then someone who was drafted? Someone who was drafted clearly loves their country, and they are doing their part to defend their country. How is that not a Patriot?

I want to apologize to anyone else if this post seems negative. Im sorry. Im just tired of this guy running his mouth acting like hes better then all the men and women who lost their lifes when they were drafted.

No one wanted to sign up for WWII until Pearl Harbor was bombed.

The funny thing about Pearl Harbor being bombed, if American Oil didnt supply all the Japanese with the fuel that They held the patent for then the whole thing Couldn't have happened. The Japanese COULDNT have gotten their planes off the ground.

So, did all these people really want to join the military? No, not at all. They felt that they didnt have a choice. (It was either sign up or get drafted anyway)

Vietnam wasnt any better. All Vietnam did was secure Afghanistan as the worlds #1 supplier of Heroin. Before 1970 0% of the worlds heroin or opium came from Afghanistan, after Vietnam it was something like 60-80% and now after Iraq its more like 98%.

You cant have HUMBLE opinion while calling people liberal idiots or assholes. Your surely entitled to your opinion but its far from Humble.

WRONG .almost all of them joined up because it was their duty to do so.
according to the USA constitution i can have a opinion..and my opinion is you liberals are a bunch of broke dick ass wipes that live in fantasy land most of the time.
especialy you canadian liberals.i think the USA emptied every coward we have from this country into canada.i think we have emptied so many of our cowards into canada that cowardice is geneticly engrained into their very nature.
it is in their DNA by now for sure.if we could only have a good draft and watch the chicken shits off load to canada
what a wonderfull idea.

No one wanted to sign up for WWII until Pearl Harbor was bombed.

We weren't involved in World War II until Pearl Harbor was involved, aside from selling and leasing stuff to England and Russia. Thus there was no point in signing up prior to Pearl Harbor.

The funny thing about Pearl Harbor being bombed, if American Oil didnt supply all the Japanese with the fuel that They held the patent for then the whole thing Couldn't have happened. The Japanese COULDNT have gotten their planes off the ground.

The reason why Japan bombed us, was because we had stopped supplying them with Oil earlier in 1941 over their invasion of Manchuria.

So, did all these people really want to join the military? No, not at all. They felt that they didnt have a choice. (It was either sign up or get drafted anyway)

That doesn't change the fact that there were some that volunteered instead of waiting till they got drafted.

Monopolies only exist with government interference in the markets, why should monopolies on illegal drugs be any different.

Of course, I disagree with Max's view that there is any difference between some one that got drafted or volunteered, but at least get your history straight if you're going to post.

http://www.american.edu/TED/ice/japan-oil.htm
The war Japan fought against the United States was a hopeless war for the Japanese, which they had basically no chance to win. Even many government leaders of Japan knew that at the time. However, at the same time, it was the war that they had to fight. That is because Japan’s national interest and the US one over China collided each other, and the Japanese leaders simply refused to bow before the US.

Japan had sent its troops in China and the US demanded Japan to withdraw from there. To back up the demand and to make Japan comply with it, the US even imposed the oil embargo on Japan. The attitude that the US took during a series of negotiations toward Japan was very formidable and little room for compromise was given, and as a result, the Japanese leaders had to make a very difficult decision about the nation’s course of action, whether they should accept the US demand or refused to do so and prepare for the war against the US. Needless to say, they chose to fight and faced a disastrous result later. But why China was so important to Japan? And what did the oil embargo mean to Japan? The following would try to explain these whys.
Of course FDR was busily plotting ways to get us involved in WWII anyway, so in the end it matters little.
