Are Autos as Good as thier Photo Genes?

Germ rooter to net pot to DWC = disaster ?
Germ rooter to soil solo to container / bag or ground = disaster ?
Coco solo start to coco or Hempy = disaster ?

Soil start to SIP container = disaster ? No it isn’t a disaster. None of it.

Autos are not that complicated - it’s still a plant.

I presented some facts from a breeder and you blow it off like it's just nothing, like some jerkoff on RIU that thinks he knows everything about growing weed. Here, it's in your face again and I was not "wrong". Get over yourself dickwad. I was just ordering some seeds from Delicious Seeds and read something interesting: "Stress severely affects flowering of automatic strains so optimum conditions will enable this plant to fulfil its potential. For this reason, it’s better not to transplant and make sure it has sufficient soil." Might want to back off on the absolutes.

Ive seen many small plants in big final containers.

It’s ultimately down to the knowledge of the grower. That’s why they generalise by saying it’s best not to. They are talking to folk who’ve never even grown a plant before.

Can grow wee plants in big pots without transplanting or mahoosive plants with transplanting. It’s all about the growers ability abs understanding of what to do and most critically WHEN to do it

I tried planting in large container and they grew so very slow. Used a 16 oz solo cup with holes for 2 weeks and then to 5 gallon. No stress and grew much faster and better. I cut down the side of cup and ease the entire plant & soil into a hole the size of the cup. It barely disturbs the roots. I've only used autos for the last 10 years. I've been growing 48 years.

When I did mine (14 weeks ago), I did cups and should have transplanted earlier...though my experience then and now is that removing plants from cups without damage is super easy. gently squeeze around all the sides, push up on the bottom, cover the soil with your hand then slowly carefully flip and the cup comes right off and you can drop the rootball into the new pot.

This next time I think I'm going to start in some 3/4gal pots I have then transplant to my 5 gallons as the seedlings will be able to root much deeper than a solo can provide.

I've waited too long to transplant at times. Found 2 weeks to be the max because cup will be filled with roots. The 3/4 gal might work well. I might try that too with one plant and see how it goes.

All you people transplanting autos are doing it wrong. Listen to the expert.

Just checked my grow journal and I transplanted at Day 15 and I should have probably done it half a week earlier. I was surprised at how developed they were by then.

Transplanting autos is a waste of soil and time plant straight in 5 gallons.

They might start of slower in the final container till their roots are established though

Facts from a breeder? You read it on a seedbank site? That's like saying you read it on grow weed easy. Lots of incorrect information regarding cannabis can be found online.

Again kids...there are no absolutes. I have transplanted at 7 days from solo cups and the plants went on to be huge. I have also started in a 5 gal grow bag and the plants were huge also. No question that autos are sensitive. I don't bother transplanting, topping, defol, anymore after some stunted....it just isn't worth it. I did everything right and 5 stunted...it was a massive waste of time. I came to the conclusion...you can reduce the risk with good technique...but the risk is always there.

Whether the auto can withstand transplanting or topping, is dependent on genetics as much as technique. Seeds are unpredictable, so I decided to leave them alone. I do a little Lolli-popping after stretch...but that's it. Like a lot of you.....I'm a home grower and I don't grow to make money. If I were doing it as a business you better believe I'd be using every technique to maximize output. Otherwise, a Lolli-popped Christmas tree structure 3BOG yields 3 oz of tight nugs. It's usually a main big cola, and 13 or 14 solid satellite nugs. I might squeeze another oz if I used some of these techniques....but I just grow an extra plant instead to make up for a slightly smaller yield.

Someone has exposed the Blackwater Mist to Rollitup and we're all infected...

If you start in the pot it finishes in...just circle around the seedling instead of drenching everything. This is my go-to technique now as the tap root immediately heads for the bottom. The blue solo cup photo is a 7 day old tap root. They grow too quickly and you can't correct a mistake if you tear a root and it stunts.

After 7 years of experimenting...my takeaway with transplanting autos is....you're not really gaining anything by not starting in the pot it finishes in. Get a watering can with a narrow nozzle and expand the circle of water around the seedling as it gets bigger.
