This all depends on how much area you're trying to cover... Obviously 1000w is more light than 800w but there is an advantage using two hoods you can spread the light out a little bit to cover a larger area a little better. Since its just a veg room you're better off just staying MH. How big is the room?

I'm thinking it might be the only decent choice out there for 1000W horizontal hood.
Unless the Ushio Dual-Arc is comparable.
Those run $175.

I wonder how hot does it run?
The Ceramic Metal Halides are supposed to run cooler than regular MH.
I use regular MH now.

I've ran a 250w cmh for veg after my 250w mh didn't seem to be vegging the plants fast enough. The mh bulb was 6 months old but when the cmh was plugged in things were growing significantly faster.

I veg under a T5 Bad Boy, then move to 1000W Hortilux Blue, in Raptor hood, w/Lumatek Ballast. Not sure if I would be going just as good with $25 plant max bulb. Bought my bulb online, and din't get that good of a deal either.

I sold my 2 600watt digital ballasts last year and dug out my old 400 watt magnet mh ballasts to run my new cmh bulbs. Run a 30-35 day cycle. One in vegging 30-35 days T-5, 2 flowering 30-35 days apart under 400 watt cmh... Harvest every 30-35days... I followed everything done in this journal verbatim [at least the first 25 pages].... Wonder of wonders, I now see the light... and its a 400 watt CMH.. https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/344359-pineapple-express-g13-labs-seed.html.. To me it seems to flower about the same as a hps, but the overall look of the plant seems to be better with the cmh..

couldn't agree more and sick plants seem to recover quicker too

I know two very experienced growers who swear by CMH now, they use 2 x 600W HPS & 2 x 400W CMH, staggered on a light mover and say it produces the best results they've ever had, however many other things have to be done properly as well. Personally I'm almost finished with my closet grow box, I'll be using a 6" air cooled hood with two bulbs inside end to end, a 400W CMH on one end and a 250W HPS on the other, cooled with a 6" inline fan, I'll be doing Queen Kush in a SOG and I can't wait to get started. I actually started a thread on CMH back in January, I intended for it to be like this thread where people can share there CMH grows, questions and experiences, however the trolls rolled in and tried to turn it into a Jerry Springer threat talking shit and being negative, if you sift through the BS there's still some pretty good info there, stop by and check it out:
