i have a 20w 24" reptiglo 10.0 uvb light i wanted to know how close to the plants i should have it?
my box is 2x3x6 i have a 600w light thats about 8-10 inch's from my plants. would that be a good distance for the uvb bulbs or should they be nearly touching the plants

do you only have one? or are there multiple 20w tubes? either way you can put them as close to your babies as you want, within a couple inches preferably. but make sure to keep a close eye to make sure you dont burn the leaves...

thanks for the reply + rep

i have only bought 1 but it does look like i should have at least another on the other side of my hps. its good to know i can put them really close tho.
have you used uvb lights much? the uvb bulb in my cab is cool enough to hold so would it be the uvb light burning the plant?

Please search UVB with Cannabis.

This issue has been discuss with great detail
and testing. Do not use it as your only light.

It's should be supplemental to your existing
lights and you my NOT want to put that light
as close as you would a regular flouro tube.

I am glad you made this thread as I have read
the brochure on the lights you are talking
about and I am interested. I won't be trying
this until next season however. Search this
issue if you do not get many substantial
replies. I've read several grow journals
that incorporated UVB at various stages.

Good luck.

its definitely gonna be a supplemental light i got a 600w sylvania grolux hps alongside it in a 2'x3'x6' box :)
i spent a fair amount of time reading about uvb and plants on here and else where im sure i've even found light distribution charts for uvb10.0 bulb. that was all a month or 2 back tho and now i cant find any of it.
trying to go thru all the journels to find the info about distance might take weeks lol :)
oh well i got the light jimmyrigged at about 6" above the plants on one side of the box im keeping a close eye on them and rotating the plants around so they all get exposed. next week i'll get another uvb bulb and some easyroll light adjusters for them to get better coverage

I recently added two 10.0 UVB 24 watt bulbs to my grow. I placed them about 12 inches above my plants and left them on for three hours. The plants were showing no signs of stress. I slowly increased the time they were on. At 8 hours of UVB the plants started showing signs of stress, bleached a few leaves. I backed the lights off to 24 inches above the canopy and cut the time to 4 hours. The plants seem to be tolerating the lights much better. Keep a close eye on them and adjust accordingly. I will say my plants are quite frosty. By the way, the best place I have found to buy this type of lamp is Ebay. I paid $15.00 each with shipping; they were $ 44.00 at Petsmart.
