I am amused that I am in the position where I am actually defending organized religion.

But the things I am reading here. Well, they are sorta frightening.

All this talk about EDUCATION has sinister overtones.

People have the RIGHT to believe in whatever bullshit they wish. The First Amendment guarantees this.

well, first of all i would teach them basic science. second, they should be shown that all religions are the same. they have basically the same stories. and they only tell u that u r a "sinner" because thats what makes people feel weaker than their god, which pushes them to "be better in gods eyes".
once u do this, and the ball starts rolling, it is only a matter of time. people will not go to church as often, which means their kids also dont go. since kids dont grow up learning that garbage, they wont believe in it so much that they refuse to see facts. now that they can see facts, they will be able to absorb information better.
there is probably some flaws in this, considering i just thought it all up. but whatever...

so i cant add things to my post? wtf?! how am i supposed to know your typing a rebuttal at that very second? if u missed it, just quote me again. i can edit my own posts when I decide to, not u...

i already gave an example. salem witch trials

If i where to have a son and he said he had feelings for other guys id tell him to ignore it, don't have any relationship or to just get a girl. A man and man relationship is not healthy for anyone.

yes, thats true. but when the religion pushes so much that its affecting my life, i take offense to it. i dont think they should be able to control our society like they do. why do i have to live in a christian america?! why cant i live in regular america?

i can assure u that if u r gay, a homosexual relationship is a lot healthier than a straight relationship. people kill themselves over not being able to show their true selves. thats not healthy at all...

But adding SUBSTANTIVE CONTENT after the fact is BAD FORM. It is quite inconsiderate. If that's you, so be it. :clap:

the only part of that that exists already is that we teach science. but even that is only technically true. sure, we teach it. but the information that a kid knows about science coming out of high school is abysmal. they dont teach enough, and the majority of teachers are not good teachers.

no there are no witches being burned in salem now. but does that make it right? just because it was in the past means we should forget about it? for someone that isnt religious(i believe u said that), u sure do make a lot of excuses for religion

no im not forced. but there are many children that are. young impressionable minds should not be taught these lies. period. it changes the way they think, and WILL think. this change in thinking affects their lives AND mine

every time i drive by a church, i think of all the people in there being brainwashed into believing bullshit. i wouldnt wish that on anyone, even my worst enemy(because he might think im a 'sinner' and try to kill me with more vigor lol)

and i would love to not have xmas as a national holiday. i think its wrong. but theres so many millions of idiot christians who think their way is the only way, that theres no way it would happen

Yes. The fact that there are no witches currently being burned in Salem means it is now RIGHT.

I would say that the fact that no witches have been burned in Salem for a couple of hundred years is a pretty darned GOOD thing. Do you disagree?
