Heh, here my electric is an extra 200 a month due to 1000w MH and an airconditioned dry room.
DAMN! Your electricity is expensive! 3 250hps and air conditioner for less than $50 a month (hydroelectric everywhere). I grow for indoor for personal and gifts as well. Outdoor is for the gold, but thats hit or miss.

Yup. The way I do it is expensive and would make selling weed a loss. But I never look at this beautiful plant as money, because once I do that all my hobby would feel like work.

Anybody else out there grow Cannabis but don't ever sell it? I feel like i'm the only one who doesn't associate growing with money.

There are advantages to not selling your Marijuana. First off I always have medicine to smoke. Second I can seed my plants with males and have new crosses of quality strains! Also I don't have to work out what i'm spending vs what i'm making, instead I can grow in the most beneficial and expensive way because I don't have to make it economical. Fourth it really makes me care more about the plant because I know either I or the person who I caretake for will get the best quality. That and I don't charge the person I care for, I enjoy being able to grow mulitple strains.

THe way I do this, I'm not getting anything out of it but the highest quality pot I can grow.

Am I the only one or are there other people out there who share my love of weed over money?

EDIT: Oh yeah! Most important benefit is that I don't have to pick high yielding strains! I can pick the higher quality pot with low yield because I dont' have to have so much excess, and would rather better medical and enjoyable qualities.

Like Spacebomb, I love it, and never would have grown something so low yielding if I had to make a profit.
Yo I think we can quit calling it "medicine" again and call it wtf it is ..........heroin! US gov has decreed there IS NO medical use for weed. I have to admit, my medical condition is I like to get high, other than that "my" gov says its worthless and should be eradicated from this planet! "my" gov is fucking morons.

It's medicine for me and my medical records prove it along with hundreds of people that are amazed at my success. So the government and their "no medical use" can kiss my ass!kiss-ass

You should see how it helps with PTSD then tell me it doesn't help....
i have a friend with PTSD who was in our collective when they recently got raided. i hear(i wasn't there at the time) that he had to be restrained and that they were VERY glad he was medicated because he had SOME self-control. Had he not been medicated he said he would've probably been shot because of his reaction to having guns pointed at him and men in combat gear busting in.

My whole point is there should be NO medical condition required to smoke as much weed as you care to smoke without the fear of some redneck fucking cop flashbanging your ass in the middle of the night for doing nothing more than minding your own fucking business, I for one am getting very very fucking tired of this control over wtf I do to myself, fuck all, mind your own business and leave peaceful pot smokers alone, I do realize this is off subject but I was having a moment. Having said that ....sell? I can barely keep my own with these shitty laws. And 2 zips processed? who the fuck is writing these laws in colorado? I hope you other"medical" states can do better than that.

You are at about the same stage as a grower as i. i medicate for fibro and add and have been having severe GI problems after being on the cocktail of drugs i WAS taking. i've lost 60 lbs in 9 months now. Even my Dr. couldn't believe it after i told her i was medicating with mj. "How can you lose weight? What about the munchies?" LOL! But it HAS been a help in many ways. Even on the rare occasion that all it does is allow me to not worry about it for a few hours.
What they don't understand about munchies is this. Yes it gives you a desire to eat tastey food, and it makes it taste amazing! But, as i've found out first hand, it makes your stomach work better and digest the food a little more easily and relaxes your pylorus and all the muscles the stomach uses. Then the stomach seems to work at peak performance. So even if you are eating junk after getting the munchies, your stomach is processing that food in a much more efficient manner so its not as unhealthy as if you were just eating it on a stress filled day when your stomach improperly digests it.

My body SEEMS to me to use the good things from food for my energy so my body 2 days later has much better energy and I find i'm in a better mood. A year ago I was in living hell having maybe 2 useable hours of energy a day, and I couldn't do much with them, I was in a dark dark place and this magical plant got me past that pain and digestion and allowed me not to be trapped in that eternal cycle of unhappiness and health problems each making the other worse every day, as a result i've been very sucessful at getting to a good weight, actually eat the kinds of foods I need to without being sick, and exercising. I'm writing this after going for a 3.5 Mile walk, something that would have been impossible for me a year ago. I can still tell where that food is inside me, which is just an odd feeling. But honestly, in my weakest time Cannabis helps me heal and has proven to better my health and body. Smoking daily since March 2010 and despite my digestive issues my body on paper is the healthiest its ever been in my life.

To Quote Hunter S. Thompson (and his comic book self Spider Jerusalem) "I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me."

I'm with you on this tradis the more I have to myself the longer it last me so I end up spending less on dealers trying to supply myself untill the next harvest
Exactly. With how much this medicinal plant has saved my body and my health, why the hell would I want to trade it for money. The smokable Cannabis (in all forms) is much more valuable to me then money. I'm lucky to be currently in a situation where I don't need to be too worried about expenses, (and I know not everyone can do that) so I don't want to add the stress of messing with dealers or police.

Life just seems better for me to not deal, besides how bored woudl I be if when chekcing on the plant and looking after the buds to prevent problems if I knew it was for someone I don't even know to smoke????

I feel too blessed to try to get greedy about my weed. I think it makes me a much better grower knowing i'm taking care of my future selfs smoke.

That is horrible!!! People with PTSD suffer from horrible visions and over reactions to situations. It would be like pulling a gun on a vietnam vet homeless in the street because of what he saw, he would instantly believe he was back in a war zone and treat you as an enemy combatant. Worst of all the raid probably undid all his work to try to be better. In effect they did shoot him. They ruined his future most likely, and I hope they realize that when they go to bed at night.

They know exactly what they did and it seems as though they enjoy it. The raid was for "investigation of profiting from mmj sales in violation of California law". 200+ armed officers, all the top brass, a helicopter, and plenty of media. Because they thought the collective was profitting. They even laughed about us having a donation box for Ronald McDonald Charities. Really?

i'm sure it's not too difficult to profit considering they had over 1000 patients a day but when i look at all the stuff they did for members; free rides to and from, discounted meds for low-income or terminal patients, BBQ almost every day for anyone(patient or not) that wanted to eat, fundraisers for local non-profits, Safe, clean, and secure environment, VERY reasonable glass, employing 36 people with full medical, dental, and vision, plus many more benefits PLUS they were buying up crack houses and renovating them to be sold to low-income families. And the local LEO says they are a draw on the county and city. FUCK THAT!

I have a feeling that with all these decade long soldeirs from the middle east coming home, as they start to be fucked over by a country that they fought and watched people die for, they are gonna do like those who came back from WW2 and take the power back from the country. I got a feeling they are going to be the revolution over an illegal abuse of citizens.

I tried to grow a few plants in a closet with incandescent lighting and backyard soil back in the 70's during another unemployed period in my life. Needless to say they didn't do very well. Didn't even finish the grow. Now with 4 harvests completed I can't begin to tell you how happy I am that I can grow my 6 plants and not have to worry about the police bustin down the door.

After having lost almost everything the last couple of years, due to being unemployed, I can still say that I have always gave away weed before I would ask for money for it. What gets me is the people on here that just can't understand it when someone can't afford nutes or growing supplies. Not everyone is in the "business" to make money.

Yes, like that. Don't get me wrong, I love my country and i'm one of the few fans of Obama left. BUT i've watched our country use American freedom and liberty as pawns in their game for power and money. They can't take our Inalienable rights no matter how hard they try. This country belongs to all of us together and equally, it doesn't matter if your are President, Homeless, or odd, this country belongs to all of us equally. I want to support our government, but at the same time it is there to support us.

At least 100 years from now it will be all new people!

What I see is people getting into power, then CASHING OUT on the American People!

It saddens me that people have abused my country and the country of those soldiers who fought and died to protect it. They could have stayed home and done nothing and been just as effective in protecting our liberties and inalienable rights. I have a feeling these soldiers are going to come back and join together in a peaceful change to our government. If the government gets cocky at its shareholders, I have a feeling these soldiers out of the midwest will give the weak and downtrodden their freedoms back way they were trained to.

I'm gonna go read Frankenstein, call me when the revolutions over.
