My newest cube variety that i’m in love with is Gandalf and i grow allot of different cubes. 80g’s dried from first flush in an XLS bag. That’s a solid 1/2lb in a monotub first flush. 24 days from spawn to bulk. I only do first flushes because of efficiency. I hate monotubs. Every single one of those growbags make it. They make it to a second and a third but i grow more mushies keeping the new bags going in. Like i had said before, i got some kind of spore load going on in my old bud flowering room and i’m not alone. Bag growing with LC works great. I have no need to do a grain to grain transfer either to me that’s old tek.

Well, I don't know if it's "old tech" but it is a gamble and not as efficient as slurry or concentrated lc.

I haven't done anything but lc for a long time. Slurry is dangerous as well being that it will be exposed to open air while still being sterile.

Jars are OK but they aren't as cooker efficient.

If you get a perfect first flush great, you will always have fewer contamination problems especially if your ph is on point.

You keep mentioning ph. I’m a 30+ year grower. I don’t pay attention to ph with the mushies. Yet. Maybe i should if i was to go back to tubs? Whats the ph where the nasties hate and our beautiful mycelium will still grow?

I wanna try growing in bags. Seems like the way to go. So what's the best way go about doing it. I'm not gonna do all in one bags. So I'll buy some bags with filters on them I don't know if they come with Ships Or do I have to put one on there myself?. Been reading up on it and i think I'll nock the grain bags wait for them to colonize and then add the substrate and mix it all up, then wait for that to colonize. Now when it's time to fruit from the bag do I put a casing layer on top at any time? I feel like bags are more contained and less risk of contams.

Nice! So first of all. I’d ditch sterilizing your grain in jars.
10t bags i do 50/50 milo/millet and then 50%water. Stop wasting time soaking and then sterilizing bird seed in jars. Just being honest here
I do 600g’s of millet and 600g’s of milo(i like the red and white best) but straight up regular milo is good too. The both combined soak up that 50% water absolutely perfect.
Anyways. Besides picking up some 10tT bags for the spawn. XLSA bags for fruiting. Make your regular cv(g) batch. Split that up in to 3 or 4 xlsa bags. PC them. Once cooled throw in 1/2 of one of those milo/millet grain bags into each. Seal it. No need for any cuts in the bag they will pin once fully colonized. Thats the short version. I’m here for you.

I wonder if you could modify those new re-usable silicone ziplog bags to use as mushroom grow sacks. An extra bulkhead made from pp5 that has a ship and filter port you could screw in one side. Or maybe they would work as is, and even vent right through the closed seal when you PC it? Seems like it would be handy to throw all the utensils in to sterilize\store them too? Or just a handy re-usable storage sack for whatever purpose that can be PCed clean when needed..

I dunno but I keep eyeing them and wondering if the silicone bags could be useful in some mycology teks, and help create less plastic waste..

I still have my grow lights hanging up in my tent with my monotobs. I wonder if it would be beneficial to turn one of them on low. I've just been using a couple small Supplemental Samsung lm301h LED light bars. I know they like what white and blue lighthe only thing I'm worried about with the grow lights is If they can have Negative effects with the infrared diodes? I also have a big u v a bar.

I've been growing for precisely 50 years now. 7.9 or even as high as 8.3 is where mycelium will grow but trich has real trouble. Of course the acidity will creep up as you go and that is the point

I do that's why I'm confused.

Looks like maybe the tops dry too fast, the air hole is too big? Years ago I first tried filter disks. I didn't know you has to use the canning lids with a hole drilled in them. They looked a lot like yours. What happens if you shake it again now?

I think that I filled the jar's a lot. And they may be too close to the filter disk and have dried. It could also be because I have a lot of jars. And sometimes they get jostled around A little bit so maybe it's from the grains on top being moved around. I don't want to shake a game because these jars are pretty old

I just got a new syringe of hillbilly lc And I'm going to make 12 pt jars of liquid culture from it. This way, I'm only gonna draw from each jar one time Trying to narrow down where these contempts are coming from. I'm using Lme, karo, and peptone. Still looking around for a recipe on that. I usually only use LME.

For my substrate i'm still using cvg, 650g coco bliss, 8 cups fine vermiculite, 1 cup Olympus myco gypsum. First I break it up and bucket tek it, then bag it and PC it for 2 1/2 hours.

Right now I'm still getting trich everywhere. Can't figure it out. Hopefully it's just the lc jars that I draw from multiple And making these new jars will Help. It's the only thing I can think of at this point.

Well, if your particular pheno is robust it shouldn't make any difference, as long as they don't knit you can always shake them again.
