Any tips on using old pro mix that has salt content?

If it never had lime added I would suggest the 1cup/cf amount. The 1/4cup amount if it had been limed a year or 2 previously.

Treat it like a fresh mix, not a reamend.

It was limed like 3 months ago when i bought it in a bale before i use salts to grow with it. Do i still use the 1/4 cup?

Yes, at the least add the 1/4 cup.

How much did you add 3 months ago? I mean, it's kinda hard to over apply lime, but easy enough to under apply it.

Lime buffering is a physical action and it needs to be in physical contact with, or, very close proximity to what it's buffering. That's why I add it second right after the peat moss when constructing a mix. The peat moss is both the most acidic and a large % of my mix, so I make sure it's well buffered. Plus, everything else added will come into contact with it at some point, so making sure the peat is buffered makes sure everything is buffered.

though this is true. i often found that the lime in promix is not enough to make it through a whole grow and often towards week 4 of flower, my pH would begin to dive. When i started adding lime to the mix, i had steady pH all the way through... and my results skyrocketed!

They add enough to get it on the ingredient list, but not enough to complete the grow.

If what you are counting on is what came IN the pro mix you really should do the full 1cup/cf. Why gamble with your pH?

True. I used 1/4 cup per cu ft in my bed stayed green ans gorgeous until the end. I just purchased a bunch of 200 gal pots also I will try 1 cup per cu ft with those. Thanks for your time fellas...

After re-reading this thread i forgot to say i didnt have any run off on my last two weeks of "flush". Do i need to rinse my soil aome more before i can use it in my indoor bed?
