another white widow grow

hey e119, thanks for the comments. dirt is just my fancy, i've tried hydro but can't seem to find the system i like, not giving up on the thought, it's just on the back burner

everything is looking good, my girls in vegging got fed mg all purpose mixed at 1/3 strength, after mixing it the ph was 6.7. the girls in flowering got fed a mix of fox farms nutes and molasses. the 2 girls nearest harvest are small but the buds are tight, i'll be lucky if i get an ounce out of the 2 of them but i put them in the flowering room as soon as they broke dirt.

no sign of the seeds from nirvana yet but i just ordered them last week. i'm ready to smoke something new....

50 more chicks are on the way, being a chicken rancher gets to be complicated sometimes. especially riding those short horses when you have to round them up. the great round up of 2008 i drug the heels off my boots off.

I am using the same Miracle Grow organic mix on my Sour Diesel, how do you like it? When I tried adding fish emulsion things went bad for me quick and I had to flush the hell out of them, could it be that there really is enough nutes in there to sustain through all of veging? I didn't add anything to the mix just used it right out of the bag, I think it could have used some perlite to break it up a bit.

hey reelfiles, i love the mg organic and so do my girls. i mix 2 of the largest bags of mg organic, 1 bag of mg perlite, and a cup of dolomite lime. i don't feed them anything until they need it and then i mix it weak. good luck with it

Thank you that's great advice. I definitely don't feel like they need anything yet, haven't had any signs of nute deficiency yet. I have never seen that at this stage, great stuff.



What do you use during flowering? I am about to switch to 12/12 but haven't got a clue what I can use with this dirt without overdoing it.

i've been using the fox farms big bloom and tiger bloom for the flowering plants, i'm going to pick 1 of my flowering girls and start feeding the mg tomato and rose nutes and see what happens. the mg haters got me scared and i never tried any of the mg nutes. i have now proven to myself that the biggest differnce in mg soils and ff soils is the price. lets see if the nutes make a differnce.

If I remember correctly it was only like 7 bucks for a big bag of that mix, I thought that was cheap. Especially if it's gonna supply nutes for all or most of vegging and I don't have to buy any. Do you think that by flowering time the soil will be neutral enough to start feeding at regular strength or it will still have some nutes in it that would end up being overkill? Are the mg rose and tomato nutes organic? I am trying to stay away from chemical fertilizers since I don't have an ec or ph meter handy and I just wanna keep it simple. I was looking at this Super Swell Bat Guano. At 0-7-0 I think it would add the P I needed without overdoing the N and K that's already in the mix. I am sorry for asking all these questions, but you are the only one I know of that uses this mix and it seems to be a lot different from anything else I've ever used.

it all depends on how long you veg for before putting them into flowering. i let my girls go until i see some dulling in the green of the leaf. the mg nutes are synthetic but i have been using them for years in the vegtable garden with great results. last year i went 99% organic in the vegtable garden mixing my compost into the soil with even better results. next spring after these compost piles cook over the winter i will try growing my girls in some of my own soil. do a search on riu for mg soils, they're a few folks that have really good journals, i'll try to find you a few links. i'm doing a plant in vegging that i'm not going to adjust the ph all thru harvest and see what kind of results i get. i've been making my grows more complicated than what it needs to be........i think

How are those white widows coming along? That's a strain I would like to try next, along with some Ice. I didn't get a sense of how many grows you have behind you, but where would you rank white widow in terms of sensitivity to nutes, temp and other factors? A lot of seedbanks list it as a strain for "experienced growers". I think seedbank sites have a lot of marketing BS on them, too.

Looks like we are following some of the same lines. I like to keep things fairly simple too.. I might take a crack at some cloning this year and try to put some plants outside when it warms up.

I'm growing some bubblelicious and superskunk in MG Moisture Control right now. I'm going to give the Organic a shot next time; this is my second grow and I've run into early nute burn issues both time -- MG-MC is just too hot for young plants, I've concluded. As an organic chemist, I can tell you that there's no material difference between chemical and organic nutrients, but the delivery is very different -- chem nutes are "ready to go"; organics need bacterial processing for release, so they come out more gently. And the major diff between FF nutes and MG is the micronutrients -- more variety in the FF. But otherwise, they're both chemical nutes with plenty of potential for overdoing it / burning plants up. FF is acid as all-get-out too, out of the bottle -- def. has to be pH'ed up, IMO. All that said, it sounds like you have a good thing going -- watching for actual signs of NEED before adding anything, and then going low-dose.

Still LOL at the chicken rancher / short horse thing... hah!

hey kriegs, i've done a bunch of differnt grows and the only thing i see differnt is the tolorance they have in over feeding. so i don't think one is anymore difficult to grow than the other. i just had to loose the newb habbit of over caring for my girls.

reelfiles, no problems as far as the questions goes, glad i could help. i don't see why you can't go the full grow without adding nutes if you use a large enough pot.

Do you think 12" pots would work? I think they are 3gal. Right now my tallest girl is 34" and I thought I remembered somebody saying that you need a gallon per foot of height.

that is a lime tree i bought while i was out in your neck of the woods, along with some basil, rosemary, and spearmint in there someplace.

i found out that you can be an out of state resident and still get a 215 card. one of these days texas will wake up...

the more you do, the more that can go wrong, i really think it is time to simple things back down. and since i've taken that aproach things are looking better.

the short horse stuff comes from my zappa days, going to be a dental floss tycoon.

my children were getting ready to leave when my son in law couldn't find his phone, so we call it and we hear the ringing coming from under the bed in the spare bedroom, there it was in a backpack along with papas camera that has been lost for several weeks, a few pacifers, some nasty looking cheese stuff, something that might of been a hotdog and several other items of intrest. my grandbaby had a stash going. i just knew my camera was here at the house. so i gave nana my new one and i got my old one back, yeah!!! merry christmas!!!

My kid does the exact same thing. Only he's a collector so you'll find multiple stashes but they all only have one type of thing in them. Like he'll have a pacifier stash, a sock stash or he'll find every remote in the house and hide it in his dresser drawer, ect.

my youngest daughter would try to flush anything that she could carry into the bathroom, i got good at pulling a toilet and resetting it. i wonder what goes through a toddlers mind while they are busy stashing stuff? it's got to be pure joy..
