Another watering thread?

Just wondering what you guys think about my situation this year.

I am growing outdoors in 20 gallon pots in soil. It's about 75% ocean forest and 25% happy frog with a little extra perlite added. Im sure the plants are over grown for the size of the pots.

In August we were seeing 100+ temps outside and i had to start watering 2x a day with 1-2 gallons per watering.

Now the temps have dropped to the 80's and im still having to water 2x a day. Thing is, the soil is not drying out and i feel like i shouldn't have to water so much. I usually water around 8am and if i don't water again by 2pm the larger fan leaves will be starting to droop. When i do water they perk back up and as long as i do this they look fine.

If i keep to my 8am and 1pm watering they never droop and look fine, so not really sure i have an issue. Its just that now the top of the soil is still so moist i feel i shouldn't have to water, but i do. So i am concerned they are now getting over watered even though they perk back up right after watering.

Very good looking plants! They don’t look over watered at all. If they need that much water then they need that much water. As they use water they will bring fresh air into the soil. Just for thoughts have you took any temp readings of the soil? Could they be drooping cause the pots are getting to hot? Maybe cover them with something white?
