Another shitty ViparSpectra grow

Looks like they did on decent job on those girls. Grats on your harvest !

My vs900 and 300 are funding my way to better light set ups. The only reason I don't like them is they aren't efficient at all and my wife chases after me with the power bill each month.

What light, exactly did you use for those?
If you are asking because you are thinking about buying a VS , don't do it. Yes they will grow nice weed, but you can find more efficient lights with a far better spectrum for the same $ value. An AutoCob 3500k from cobshop dot net is $125 and is half the power consumption of a 300w Viparspectra, better par value and a far superior spectrum. I've also been eyeballing the 54w Optic 1 for about the same price. I'm am sure fullscan19 QB's will be awesome too. There is a reason we are dumping our VS.

Thanks for the advice. I was looking at QB 288 V2's, but I'd need about 10 for the 2 tents/rooms I want to run. That's a lot of $$ me ATM.

Dude... Really... Those COBs are a ton of cash.

No idea what to recommend for that size of grow. But definitely not vipars. If you go the cob route it's 1 cob per plant. I just did a quick price check on the QB 288's, looks like you can get 2 cobs for 1 QB.I may be out to lunch, but I am thinking 2 plants per QBz(4 smaller) . I really don't know what would be better between those 2. I just know for the size you want to cover that stacking vipars is the worst option of the 3 for value and efficiency.

From literally everything I've read you size per SQ ft not plant count. But I could be wrong.

No you are correct. I guess cause I've been fixated lately on collecting cobs. it's just easy for me to calculate 1 plant per cob. And in Canada I'm now going to just be growing 4 plants. And I don't really trust a lot of Sq ft that light co's put out.

Edit: just an example, my VS 900 says it will cover a 3x3, and that's totally not true. Anything outside of the base area of the light doesn't grow worth a crap. It will grow 2 decent plants, or 4 cramped plants that don't reach their full potential. Either way, 2 or 4 it kind of ends up the same amount of bud.

ViparSpectra 300. This was my last run using those lights. My guys currently flowering are under HLGs 320xL quantum boards, Amazing!

The vipars are not the most efficient, but they can grow great bud.

I would 100% recommend a vipar as a FIRST light because it was 60$ and it’s a great way to enter the hobby and find out if YOU really wanna grow weed.

All these people recommending DIYCobs and QBs and dropping tons of cash on your very FIRST grow in my opinion are going way overboard.

Like all things in life, whether it’d be growing weed or playing sports, start small and build a foundation of basic knowledge.

Viparspectra allows you to do that by having a ‘good’ light where you can worry about learning what nutrients are, environmental conditions, etc.

When you understand nutes and all the rest, then step up your light game.

EASE someone into the hobby, don’t scare them. Gotta crawl before you can walk.

I don't agree with this, I've grown with the blurples. They WILL grow frosty, good looking buds, but they'll not be much weight to them. If you can afford it, save yourself some time and trouble, and start out with qb's or cobs. You won't have any regrets then.

Another shitty thread about lights. What's the point?
The point of the thread was *sarcasm* because blurples are always bashed. I’ll admit my QBs bring my bud to another level, but those fat fucking nugs I posted could easily be sold retail, and they were made with a 55$ light.

I hear you. I've seen good weed grown under T5's.

The "My light is better than yours" and "Your light sucks" mentality is getting old. I'm glad you were able to grow some decent weed without spending a ton of money on a fancy light.

There are people that think you need to spend thousands of dollars on the latest LED lighting. To justify their excessive spending they put down other lighting. Some of us just want to grow some decent weed without spending a bunch of money. And we're doing it.

That's because you're relying on crooked af blurple marketing tactics.

The general rule when it comes to COB/PCB lighting is 30 to 50 watts per square foot. 35 to 40 seems to be ideal.

What size room?

Those cobs listed are pricey but with some diy or kits from other places it's not that bad.
