Another Indoor Tent AC Thread.

I asked this in a different forum but I think I might have better luck here.

I have an 8x8 tent, in a room with a small window. I have an intake fan bringing air in from outside, (vortex), and max fan pulling air out of the tent and exhausting out the window. I have a portable AC unit inside the tent, set to 61 deg running pretty much 24/7. Temps have been getting up to 92 deg with the summer heat lately... on days where it isn't very hot outside I am at a manageable 86/87 deg. I am thinking if I can put the AC unit outside the tent, and vent the cool air in that it might drop the temp a little more and it wont be robbing my tent of humidity which will also help cool things off. Problem is, the vent is very awkward. Wondering if anyone has any ideas how I could make something to snugly fit over the vent and run a 6" line into the tent.

If I could do this perhaps I could even vent one of these holes into the tent, and just leave the other side to cool the room outside the tent..

I've thought of a window a/c unit but when I had the portable ac unit outside of the tent cooling the room, the temps inside the tent were still way too high and I was taking air in from the cooled room through intake, so I think I would still need a way to vent a window ac unit into the tent directly.

Any help appreciated.

Do you have the hot side of the AC piped out the window already? I was thinking of picking one of these up but it seems kinda not worth

Go with a window unit, they are much closer to the listed btu rating than a portable. How many watts and what kind of light are you running in the tent?

yeah, A/C unit has exhaust hose that goes out of tent and to window.

Yeah, but... I would have to rely on the intake fan to bring the cooled air in the room into the tent, and I don't think that would cool the tent as fast as my lights heat it up. Also, a window unit unless I can find a shallow one, would be an inch or less away from the tent wall and I'm not sure if that would be very safe?

I am running two LED's, they are dimmable... Have them dimmed right now at about 75% of their max output due to the hot day today. I think they are like 620 true watts each. Advertised as 700 watts each though.. I guess that means they are the equivalent of 1400 watts HPS as far as I understand. I'm new to the LED game.

Another option though I guess....LAST resort kind of thing... is doing away with the tent altogether and just running a window unit to cool entire room. Don't really want to do that though.

keep the tent but cool the entire room. Its called a "lung room." Cool the room and constantly circulate air into the tent.

In the past I had the intake taking air from the room with the AC unit in the room.... The temp in the tent was hotter than it is now with the AC unit in the tent.
