All Important. Seed

i am a first time grower (hopefully), so i wanted to know the best seed to buy?

from reading around i'm pretty sure i need a feminised seed.

i'm not sure what auto-flowering means?

i also aren't sure of the chances of one seed growing?

and finally i've read somewhere about not starting the seed in soil? in cotton wool?

i'm from the UK and was looking to spend less than a £10 as well.

Well you definately shouldn't start one seed, don't put aall your eggs in one basket as they say. If your only interest is groing th minimum amount of plants and using the least amount of resources possible than feminized seeds would probably be your best bet, but understand it could increase your chnces of having a hermaphrodite that ill seed your crop with more hermaphrodite seeds. I recommend getting a couple strains from different breeders and testing them out yourself, the attitude usually has good freebies of feminized seeds with every order and if you wait around till the begnning of the month, they have a monthly deal that includes even more on top of your other freebies. http://www.cannabis-seeds-bank.co.uk/

mmmm never heard of hermaphrodite seeds which isn't good.
any information on auto-flowering, do they flower quicker?

MUCH quicker, they flower automatically after they reach an age of around 4-5 weeks so it's REALLY important they get off to good start to get a big base plant to support the flowering.
You can leave the lights on much longer, 20/4 the most popular

Some autos finish from seed in less than 80 days,Im running some nycd autos now and they finish in 70 days from seed

arent they harder to grow than regular seeds?

The only problem is if the seed doesn't germinate, isn't vigorous, it as some problem, dies or is a male or someting you acually end up more invested than you would be if you just grew some more. hermie is just a female plant that has some male flowers, that's how feminized seeds are made so obviously te potential is there. I have not ad many issues with them but somestrains will be more prone to it than others. I don't kno the shipping rates for UK but your generally gonna be spending twice your budget tht you stated. If you go to attitude, click pick and mix under breeders and you can buy single seeds that way and you'll get 1 free sweet seeds grapefruit right now. You could also get a ceaper brand of seeds in regular, then just pull the males. You should end up with a least a few females for your small investment. Look at KC Brains seeds and seedsman seeds for some very cheap regular seeds in 10 packs.

Autos are easier to grow.they do better with very little nutes and the breeders have the smoke where its pretty good now.When auto flowers first came out they were a little weak.The litle desiels I grow are as potent as many of the reguler strains Ive grown

Pick an mix.seedsman White widow is 10 bucks and it was some good smoke.It comes in fem or reg.....

much appreciated guys! thanks. think i'm gonna get 5/10 seeds and see how i get on. I'm not sure how easily it is to spot the difference between female and male plants, but i will post that when ( or if ) i get to that bridge
