AK47!? AK48!?! same!? diff? wtf?

Ak48 is still some fire! Serious Seeds Ak47 isn't even minutely related to Nirvana's Ak48 (a cross of "Ice"), I have grown both. They are both really good, but the 47 has better structure, vigor and yield. Still, the ak48 is a force to be reckoned, many knock on Nirvana/Gypsy but I have grown all kinds of fire bred by them.

AK47 = AWESOME! AK48 = yucky

Ak47 is not similar to ak48, the ak48 is bred by nirvana whom decided to sell it since it can flower in 48+ days, and ak47 takes about 65.


fyi, rarely ever does nirvana decide to breed for connoisseur quality, they are a part of a conglomerate, and other breeders in that group do the breeding for less commercial purposes (like homegrown fantaseeds, same owner but everything from homegrown fantaseeds i've grown was leagues ahead of the nirvana.


if you think nirvana has no good strains, try bubblelicious, Ice, Jock horror(not comparable to say- jack herer but it is still pretty damn potent, some pheno's are rediculous) or chrystal.


if you really like ak 47, then homegrown fantaseeds offers a hybrid similar to ak47 named "Armageddon" but i've found that it yields better and flowers about 1-2 weeks faster, both are just as potent as eachother. the Armageddon has been in my grow room for over 2 years, no nanners, balls, no signs of stress unless you forget to water it for a week, really vigorous and almost impossible to ruin, finished product is easily better than the ak48 and comparable to ak47(really good ak47 might i add)

I have personally grown AK-48 from Nirvana (Fem seeds) and it is a staple in my rotation as the sativa lovers will want it.

The sweet/candy smell alone is worth the price. I've been pleasantly surprised by Nirvana's rendition of AK-48.
FYI, I let most of the pheno's go about 60 days in flower.

I've grown ak48 (directly from nirvanna) it's definitely NOT ak47. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad weed, but it's in no way in the same league as serious seeds ak47. I have seen all the different posts about how ak48 is this or that, but i know from experience that it is not even f2 or f3 seeds. My guess (and I mean guess because i base this on nothing more than opinion) is that the name comes from an attempt to capitalize from ak 47's fame.

Hahaha, I mean for educational purposes I could have, theoretically, grown some in the past. I'm in an illegal state, so I have to watch my 6. My signature (hopefully) will just keep me from any trouble concerning readers who may say that a RIU member influenced them to break the law.

I believe Nirvana calls it AK48 because of the similarities... even though they have completely different tastes/smells, they are similar because they both have a very unique, distinguishable smell. Nirvana AK48 is good, it doesn't flower in 48 days like they tell you but it's one of my favorite smokes, for flavor... but we don't really smoke for flavor. It's Ice crossed with Jock Horror, Serious AK47 is a mix of several landraces- you can get seeds from Serious or from a seed bank, if you find any other breeder offering "AK47" then rest assured that it's an F2 (or worse) and being sold illegally (AK47 is trademarked by Serious Seeds, the only trademarked strain in the world actually.) Serious seeds does not allow other breeders to simply buy a pack of their seeds, breed them and then sell F2's under their legendary name. Nirvana seeds are nothing like the quality you get from Serious but they are certainly worth the low price. I've realized that I can be happy with just about any strain, it's all about pheno-hunting, finding the right phenotype can make any strain extraordinary.
